Heaven's River
Heaven's River: Bobiverse, Book 4 | Dennis E. Taylor
5 posts | 5 read | 1 reading | 1 to read
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor.
More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost.
But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore. Some of them oppose Bob’s plan; others have plans of their own. The out-of-control moots are the least of the Bobiverse’s problems.
Undaunted, Bob and his allies follow Bender’s trail. But what they discover out in deep space is so unexpected and so complex that it could either save the universe - or pose an existential threat the likes of which the Bobiverse has ever faced.
Heaven’s River is the fourth installment in the blockbuster Audible Original Bobiverse series - which has sold more than one million copies.

Super fun and levels of complexity adding to layers of world building. The story does wander a whole bunch and sometimes skips past other possibilities, but this is the nature of “ever expanding” universes. Opening for more in the future almost seems to be in Taylor‘s storytelling DNA. Promising, I hope, more fun to come!

I love the characters of the Bobiverse. This book seemed to drag a bit as our heroes traveled through a huge structure, but the comedic element was, as usual for these books, front and center. And geeky and nerdy to the max.

TheSpineView I loved this whole series! 8mo

And with that, apparently, my #Goodreads2021 challenge is completed!

I personally don‘t consider it quite reached yet, I don‘t count the short stories individually even though I mark them off on Goodreads so I can keep track of them, but the year is still young, so I know I‘m in good shape. 😉

I don‘t know why I punish myself and wait so long to read/listen to new releases that I know I‘m going to love…am I really that busy, or just trying to save something special for later, or maybe, just maybe I just can‘t imagine that an author can continue something so perfect without letting me down…. But just like Martha Well‘s Murderbot, Taylor‘s Bobiverse has never let me down. ⤵️

Riveted_Reader_Melissa ↪️ Adventures in VR, in outer space, on alien structures, duplicitous with humans, aliens, and friends, and as always some great sci-fi writing with large doses of fun. 3y

Another great entry in the Bobiverse! Does manage to feel like a new story after the events of the first three books, with a focus on fewer Bobs and primarily centered around Bob. One thing did stand out to me more than in previous titles: the specific wish fulfillment of this series is just being able to solve any issue. Too many issues seem to be solved too easily.

Overall, I enjoyed this book quite a bit still.
