This novel was on Holly Black‘s list (published on Tor.com?) of good contemporary fairy stories. A 16 year old girl, Tara, goes missing, comes back 20 years later, but for her, it‘s only been 6 months. I liked the meditation on our reliance on context and the continuity of daily life to make sense of each other. When Tara comes back, she struggles to find her parents, brother, and first love in the people they‘ve become over the past 20 years.

This #supernaturalmystery involves the disappearance of a teenage girl in the woodlands near her home. Twenty years later she reappears at her family home un-aged and claims she was taken away by fairies. In some ways this book felt like a very depressing look at aging, especially from the perspective of Tara.

Great listen, John Lee is one of my favorite narrators. His voice is swoon-worthy. The story was good, though I doubt I would have liked it as much if I'd read it. There wasn't really any...mystery or urgency to the story. It was interesting enough for me to stick it out though. Recommend if you need an easy listen and want to lose yourself in Mr. Lee's dulcet tones. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I was too exhausted today to do any actual reading (😱💤) but I am really enjoying this #audiobook. #JohnLee is a fabulous #narrator.

Beautifully written, gorgeous language, compelling story and haunting characters.

I keep wanting to call this "A Sort of Fairytale" and it's playing in my head constantly whilst reading. (it's good)

Loved this book, it led you through the eyes of a family that has lost someone to the fay. We always have the adventures with someone who has gotten captured, this one has a big twist. Really moving. Read this years ago and is in my top 10. I still remember the characters like I just finished.
