so-soI'm honestly feeling meh about this one. I liked the idea of this one but it wasn't as well executed as I'd have hoped for. This might be due to the fact I'm a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes and his version of Moriarty is so different. I may give e this one one more chance. #mangathemeread
panI‘ve been meaning to try a Manga, as it is such a huge seller at work. But nope! This retelling of Doyle‘s villain, with a murderous ‘Robin Hood‘ vibe, was not for me. Lacking the wit of Doyle‘s stories and the characters fell flat. The art style lacks a bit of variety and nuance in the facial expressions for me, making it sometimes difficult to tell characters apart. I tried, and maybe I‘ll try a different manga series….But this one was just meh.
so-soThis was...ok. There is a familiar character introduced toward the end that will probably make future installments more lively. I like the idea of Moriarty as the literal flipside of Holmes as a consulting criminal. The first story was perhaps unnecessarily gruesome, although my ignorance of manga is probably showing here. I'll read Vol 2 for sure. I'll have to see after that.
