I really enjoyed this previous books in this series, but this was just ok. The characters were just very bland and there never felt like there was much tension. I still love all the side characters, so I will continue in the series. 3.25⭐️

I adored this book!

I feel like the more I read for my Romance Book Club, the more I appreciate the genre.

Lady Lillias is destined to marry someone with a title. In her comfortable life, she doesn't always feel seen and is often featured in the "tabloids" with people speculating about what she'll wear to the ball and who she'll dance with.

Hugh Cassidy is an American with political ambitions.

Sparks fly when the two meet at a boarding house.

As an historical romance fan, I‘m going out on a limb to say that I believe JAL is the best writer in the genre. This series has been wonderful, and this 3rd in series is my favorite so far (and maybe my favorite of hers ever). Hugh, an American from rural NY, is in England searching for a runaway young woman. Lillias is the beautiful and popular daughter of an earl. They are immediately attracted to each other, but she is above his reach, and 🔻

robinb she has had her heart broken by a close childhood friend that she expected to marry. I won‘t go further with details, but suffice it to say, they get their HEA. What elevates Long‘s writing is her dry wit, her original plots/settings and her deep-dive into character development. I laugh, I visualize and I walk among these fictional folks and love every moment in their company. 🔻 3y
robinb Her writing is simply beautiful, and she writes with such feeling and emotion that I never skim but always read every “a, an and the”. Richly romantic with lots of angst, she knows how to write those intimate scenes as well. 😂 She‘s always an auto-buy for me and most of the time I never even read the blurbs. Highly recommended. 5/5⭐️ 3y

Julie Anne Long is always charming, and always has at least a couple of laugh-out-loud lines. This third installment of the Grand Palace on the Thames series certainly meets those marks. 4.5❤️

Very odd - the cover of this ARC shows in my kindle library, but when I open the book, the cover is nowhere to be found.

Anyway, I started this book this morning before heading to work.
