Killer Triggers
Killer Triggers | Joe Kenda
9 posts | 9 read | 7 to read
The most common triggers for homicide are fear, rage, revenge, money, lust, and, more rarely, sheer madness. This isnt an exact science, of course. Any given murder can have multiple triggers. Sex and revenge seem to be common partners in crime. Rage, money, and revenge make for a dangerous trifecta of triggers, as well. This book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw. In each case, I examine the trigger that led to death. I chose this theme for the book because even though the why of a murder case may not be critical in an investigation, it can sometimes lead us to the killer. And even if we solve a case without knowing the trigger, the why still intrigues us, disrupting our dreams and lingering in our minds, perhaps because each of us fears the demons that lie within our own psychethe triggers waiting to be pulled.

And #DeweysReadathon is just chugging along. This was a fun book if you enjoy true crime and/or Kenda.

I've had two cups of coffee so I'm off to another book for Dewey's readathon.

I love that he covers some different crimes than what was on his television show and he also explains why his show ended!

I watched Joe Kenda‘s TV series every week for its entire run and enjoyed it immensely. This book is very interesting and gives a good insight into his personal philosophy on crime, criminals and the law. It also showcases his droll sense of humor. Being a homicide detective is tough on a person‘s psyche and Kenda explains that very accurately. Five stars. True crime fans will enjoy this book.

I loved "Killer Triggers" by Joe Kenda! It read very much like his old show, Homicide Hunter on Discovery ID - so much so that I could practically hear Kenda narrating the text inside my head! As Kenda leads us through a handful of his memorable cases, readers will find the text rich with his distinctive mix of wit, humor and bada$$ery! A must for any true crime fan! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
