Tonight I made misir wat (Ethiopian lentil stew) and injera (Ethiopian flat bread) for #FoodandLit 🇪🇹 I made my own berbere spice for the wat. The wat was delicious and I will make some again, it was very similar to an Indian curry. But the injera is definitely an acquired taste. The sourness of it left an after taste I wasn't fond of. The hubby and I did have fun eating it with our hands though!

Butterfinger Awesome!!!! How is everyone? 3y
Catsandbooks @Butterfinger We're doing better here! I finally feel like we're making progress with Link's paw! It's not as red or inflamed and he's not limping so much! I feel like I'm on the upside of things now. ❤️ 3y
Chrissyreadit I‘ve only eaten injera at restaurants where everything is soaked an and on top of it so I‘ve never noticed the bad taste- but that‘s a big problem in the book I read too. 3y

Catsandbooks @Chrissyreadit it tasted much better with the wat but on its own I didn't care for it. 3y
Chrissyreadit How hard was it to make? 3y
Catsandbooks @Chrissyreadit it actually wasn't that hard to make! It just had to sit for 3 days to ferment. I can send you some teff flour if you want to make it. 3y
Chrissyreadit Hmmmm- I would not mind if you have flour you would not use. I am trying to decide if I should could or go into DC. But I have not had time to go yet.... 3y
Catsandbooks @Chrissyreadit Ill send you some! I was trying to figure out what to do with it anyway. 3y
Chrissyreadit Thank you so much! This will be interesting! 3y
Texreader I swear I‘ve got to get to the Ethiopian restaurant soon! This looks good and I‘m so curious about injera! 3y
Catsandbooks @Texreader can't wait to see what you try! 3y

Loving the tagged book I‘m getting these simple recipes from. It‘s a library book and I‘m going to look into purchasing a copy, it‘s a wonderful little book.

Tamra If you can ever get your hands Berbere or Ethiopian butter in shop or online, go for it! You can keep both in the freezer in sealed baggies for long term storage. 😁 3y
TheBookHippie @Tamra will do!!! 3y
