Pickpick

This is a compact and readable summary of current ideas about the brain, authored by an actual neuroscientist, distilled into a series of essays that explain 8 punchy "lessons": "Your brain is not for thinking", "You have one brain (not three)", etc. It's light on math and jargon, generous with illustrations, and very much like an evening with a research scientist friend who knows how to talk shop to plain folks.

Once upon a time, the Earth was ruled by creatures without brains. This is not a political statement, just a biological one.
