I love Goodman‘s novels but haven‘t read her for awhile! This one kept me up late! It revolves around Joan and Melissa who are not friends but when Melissa‘s husband is found dead, she blames Joan for writing an article describing his sordid past with women. Perfect for fans of the #MeToo movement‘s energy, this novel examines marriage, ambition, and friendship. Couldn‘t put it down!

There's a lot going on in this novel. I really liked Joan's POV & the #metoo tie in. The addition of Lillian's story & the history of Magdalen homes for "fallen" girls was an interesting historical tidbit that brings attention to the way that shaming women for sexual behavior is imbedded in our national identity. Would have been a 4⭐ read but the ending got a little hokey. Quick multiple perspective read & decent thriller. ⭐⭐⭐?

TheLudicReader I always find her books slow. Was this one? 2y
FelinesAndFelonies @TheLudicReader I would say it is slower than most thrillers. I had to really focus sometimes to get to the next chapter. 2y

Could the stranger behind you really be a stranger or someone you know and trust?

THE STRANGER BEHIND YOU was different from Ms. Goodman's other books, but well written as always.
