Totally not book related, but it made me happy to see that my favorite player scored a goal (and winning goal at that) today.

Minervasbutler My favourite player (Harry Kane) got on the score sheet tonight as well yay! (I'm easily pleased lol) 5y
Jen_Reads @Minervasbutler I‘m a big Vedran Corluka fan and it sucks that he plays in Russia because unless it‘s a big champions league game I won‘t see him play. 5y
Jen_Reads @Minervasbutler sometimes it‘s easy to be pleased 5y
Minervasbutler @Jen_Reads Corluka was great for Spurs when he played for us. Was sad to see him go. 5y

Found this book while helping my dad clean out some stuff he had in storage and figured the start of soccer season was the perfect time to read it.
While the concept was fairly interesting I found myself getting so distracted every time I sat down to read this I just couldn‘t wait to be done with it.
Either this book didn‘t age well or the author over generalized groups of people and in some cases dismissed racism as ignorance ⭐️⭐️

The FIFA World Cup starts today! This is where I‘m slightly sad because I don‘t have cable and therefore cannot watch any of the games I‘d like to and Work would get in the way. Sadly I will be missing all of my teams games (it would look bad to call out on my last day at BN). My team, as it has been for the past 10 years, is Croatia 🇭🇷. I adore them and their country that made me love them and feel homesick after only a few days there.
🇭🇷⚽️

CouronneDhiver Yay!!!! We both picked the same book for our World Cup posts. I‘m watching as much as I can. Cheering for Germany (as always) and Panama (the destination of my first solo trip) 6y
Jen_Reads @CouronneDhiver I have the FIFA app so hopefully it does its job and sends me updates on Croatia‘s games for me. 6y

zezeki @Jen_Reads So excited to hear you're cheering for Croatia, as I myself am Croatian. 😁 6y
Jen_Reads @zeljka i fell in love with Croatia when I visited years ago and it turned out my favorite player was from there so it works out well. 6y
CoffeeAndABook Am rooting for Croatia 🇭🇷 for you as they play Nigeria right now!! I‘m just watching for fun, my team (Germany) is not on till tomorrow so I‘m not invested either way but will gladly take over for a fellow Litten ⚽️⚽️⚽️ 6y

Catching up on the goings on in the world of soccer. And I finally picked up things for my #janeaustenswap match!!

mabell I used to pick up imported issues of 4-4-2 at Barnes and Noble. I went through a Premier League obsession. 😆 6y
Jen_Reads @mabell I used to do the same, but for the Italian league. I did find a nice little write up about one of my favorite Italian players who now coaches so it was a nice little thing to see when all I planned on was looking at pictures. 6y
susanw I actually bought your tagged book for my husband! It‘s EPL here all the time. 6y
Jen_Reads @susanw I really enjoyed the book. I found it interesting to see how different countries are. 6y

Day 14: Around the World #sizzlinsummerbooks One of my first loves of books are ones for #travel. I'll buy them for almost any European country 🇭🇷 🇸🇮 that I've been to or want to see. Also two of my favorite books with worldly locations. #juliet and #howsoccerexplainstheworld
