My #TBRtarot pick this month was an author I never read before. Took me a while to get into the story but then I was hooked. A fierce (and voiceless) FMC trying to kill the enemies that have destroyed her family and her lands. But of course not everything is as it seems. Lots of magic and warring Princes- what‘s not to love? I guess I have to read the rest of the series to see what happens next. This is the story of my life. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Does everything you‘d expect fantasy/romance to do, in a readable but not a ‘set you on fire‘ way. Found this story pretty engaging, but not exciting, and the final, protracted sex scene was suitably awkward/unnecessary. Basically, you get what you know you‘re going to, and this is a vibe that is working for me on commute audio at the moment.

I waited to read this until closer to book two, but I probably wouldn‘t have been mad if I had read it earlier. The cliffhanger is not super cliffhangery. 😅

Solid writing, really good world building, great characters, and the romance was on point. Adult fantasy romance that doesn‘t disappoint, and I‘m looking forward to the next book.

This was one of my favorite books this year. From the first chapter I could not put this book down. The setting, the characters, and the plot were beyond enticing. Raina does not speak and uses a version of sign language throughout the book, which was so refreshing to read. She was such an awesome protagonist and really a breath of fresh air. Alexus was enticing and fun to read. I loved the sisterly bond between Raina and Nephele too.
