June #TBRTarot (choose a book with flowers on the cover) #ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 So, I was looking for a book or a series where the main character wasn‘t a 23-year-old, someone who was a little mature and closer to my own age. Daisy is 40, so I guess that‘s a little better. But the reason I‘m still listening has nothing to do with age. It‘s a fun series and the strong friendships make all the outlandish situations seem so much more real.

A spicy finish to Sonali Dev‘s Jane Austen inspired series. The Rajas and their extended family all have dreams that they work hard to make reality without leaving much time for love and romance. 3.25🌟

June #TBRTarot (choose a book with flowers on the cover) #ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 And the hits just keep on coming! I took a break from this series for a few months and as soon as I started listening to this I couldn‘t figure out why. I still can‘t. 40-year-old Daisy has undergone tremendous changes in her life. I guess it‘s a little warped of me to be so amused about life, death, and Armageddon. But this is funny stuff! What I (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 love about this series is the friendships that Daisy already had, the new friends she makes, and the meshing of the two groups to form a large found family. Unhealthy relationships become healthy and there‘s always room for more new friends. 3d
CatLass007 Also, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are drag queens and in this book we meet Tory, aka Purgatory, a broken woman who strongly resists becoming part of this family. “I work alone.” I hope she lets her guard down in the next book. 3d
CatLass007 One of the things I don‘t like about this series is that every book ends on a cliffhanger. One of the things I do like about this series is that the final chapter of each book becomes the first chapter of the next book. It‘s so much better than “the story so far” or no recap of the previous books. 3d
CatLass007 I forgot to add that I enjoy the pop culture references. And in almost every chapter I get a definite Prince Bride vibe. When someone is asked to do something, the reply is never “sure” or “no problem.” The reply is always “As you wish.” 3d

June #TBRTarot (Choose a book with flowers on the cover) #ReadAway2024 Do words mean different things to men and women? Are there words used by women but not by men? This is a fictional story of the writing of The Oxford English Dictionary. There were many women assistants and women volunteers but their names have been forgotten. This is a wonderful book which I highly recommend!

CBee I loved this book ♥️ 4d

Murder at an Irish Wedding | Carlene O'Connor

Liking this series! When the best man is murdered at a high profile wedding, amateur sleuth Siobhán O‘Sullivan flies into action to help solve the case. There was a good cast of characters, not all likeable, but entertaining, and the killer was a surprise to me! Plus, I just love hearing the Irish accents on audiobook. ☘️

Tom Lake: A Novel | Ann Patchett

Pickpick

This was a beautiful read and only cements what I already knew - Ann Patchett is one of my favorite writers. I found myself thinking more than once how lovely it would be to live in an orchard, or near one - but I think I‘d be disappointed to find that I wouldn‘t be living with the Nelson family 😂 #tbrtarot #flowersoncover

TheBookHippie Here‘s a tip -don‘t do it in northern Michigan 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫. 2w

Billypar I've only read Bel Canto and State of Wonder and I thought the two were so different that I wouldn't have even guessed the same author wrote them if I didn't know. But I liked them both for different reasons. 2w
CBee @TheBookHippie oh my - stop thinking about it 🫢😂 2w
CBee @Billypar I highly recommend The Dutch House as well! And of course Tom Lake 😊 I haven‘t read Bel Canto but loved State of Wonder. 2w

AmyG @CBee Ha! I thought you read it before sending it to me. 🤣 2w
CBee @AmyG nope 🫢🫢😂😂 2w
peaKnit I literally use this audio book to lull me back to sleep, Meryl Streep‘s voice put my nervous system into neutral🩷. (edited) 2w
CBee @peaKnit wow, that‘s great! 2w
Amiable Loved this book! And @AmyG , I thought I was the only one who wasn‘t totally enamored with “Bel Canto.” 😄 2w

My #TBRtarot pick this month I read in one sitting. The 2nd in the series I just can‘t get enough of. I love the concept of someone from our time getting sucked into this fantasy world. Romy has to learn everything about how the world works, how to ride a horse and how to find her magic. In this one,our King and Romy are on the outs but must travel together or risk getting killed by the King‘s brother who stole the throne. On to the next! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Redland‘s books are so enjoyable. She has great settings and wonderful characters. There are difficulties to overcome or accept but I always feel calm and relaxed reading her books.
