As a kid in the late 70s and 80s, I envied Brooke‘s beauty, but I also was a fan. I still am! She‘s only 6 years older than me, so I was really interested to hear her take on aging and menopause, and of course, learning tidbits about her life. Brooke does acknowledge her privilege, but there‘s still some great advice/views/ideas that resonated with me. Though I don‘t have to age in the spotlight, I‘m glad I read this, and 👇🏻

OriginalCyn620 I applaud Brooke for using her platform to highlight the issues and struggles that women face as they age. I really think I have a better outlook on aging now! 1w

I really wanted to love this series 😫!! Everyone else seems to love it and I‘ve been really trying to expand my horizons and read more sci fi/fantasy. I‘ve been having such success but something about this series just isn‘t connecting. Maybe I‘ll try again at some point down the road but, for now, I say goodbye to the murderbot 🫡👋

candc320 This is also my selection for July‘s #tbrtarot ! @CBee 3w
CBee TBH, I only read the first one - just didn‘t feel much like continuing 🤷‍♀️ 3w
candc320 @cbee I‘m so happy to hear that as I thought I was the only one 🤣. 3w
CBee @candc320 like I enjoyed it while I was reading it, but I wasn‘t racing to get the next one 🤷‍♀️ you‘re not alone! 3w

My #TBRtarot pick this month was a quick read and something I definitely don‘t read often- a YA bank robbery thriller? No dragons or magic? I heard Netflix is making this one a movie with Millie Bobbie Brown so of course that‘s who I pictured the whole time. A cute story about sisters who grew up with a con artist mother and those skills help them when one is taken hostage in a bank robbery. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

CBee No dragons? No magic? This definitely isn‘t in your usual wheelhouse 😂😂👏🏻👏🏻 4w
Meshell1313 @CBee yes! As Blanche DuBois would say, “I don‘t want realism. I want magic.” 😉😋🪄 4w
CBee @Meshell1313 love it 👏🏻👏🏻 4w
AnnCrystal 👏🏼😂👌🏼 now sister witches would have made that hostage situation a whole lot easier...just saying 🪄📚💝. 4w

RaeLovesToRead I read all the genres hehe. Guess it's got to be a sports romance lol 1mo

MatchlessMarie This is perfect for this month! I have a coworker who a few weeks ago remembered how I liked books and started talking to me about what he was reading and he‘s been trying to get me into fantasy and lent me his copy of Eragon as a gateway book 😂 to try out. Most fantasy I have read are other genres with light fantasy elements in them so far. 1mo
CBee @RaeLovesToRead believe it or not, I read one of those and it was great 1mo
CBee @MatchlessMarie that‘s awesome! 1mo
Ruthiella Hmmm. This might be a tough one! 1mo
OriginalCyn620 Okay, I have to give this one some thought! 🤔 it may be a toss up between nonfiction and fantasy 1mo
CBee @OriginalCyn620 did you ever read The House in the Cerulean Sea? That‘s fantasy! And it‘s fabulous! The sequel is too. 1mo
OriginalCyn620 @CBee Yes, I‘ve read both and loved them! Fantasy is hit or miss for me, but sometimes I am pleasantly surprised! 1mo
CBee @OriginalCyn620 same! Klune does write a lot of fantasy so maybe another of his would also work! 1mo
Bklover Well, this might mean a romance for me! Maybe I‘ll finally read 1mo
Meshell1313 Ooh interesting. I‘ve had this suspense thriller on my shelf forever because I don‘t typically read it but it was one of those $5 Barnes and noble cafe books and they get me every single time! 😂 1mo
CatLass007 This could be difficult. I read every genre. I‘ve never read a Wastern but I have some — nope I take that back. I read Robert B Parker‘s Westerns the first four books of the Cole & Hitch series are excellent because Parker wrote them. His estate hired someone to ruin them by writing more. Let me think… I love science fiction, fantasy, mystery, suspense, thrillers, biography, memoir, faith-based nonfiction. I don‘t remember reading any (cont)⬇️ 1mo
CatLass007 history, but I know I‘ve got some in my library. They‘re all so long, though. 1mo
CBee @Bklover I read an Emily Henry book a while back and really liked it! 1mo
CBee @Meshell1313 go for it! 1mo
CBee @CatLass007 you can always skip! 😊 1mo
CatLass007 Nope, I found one. Actually I found several but I finally settled on one. It‘s an un-history book. 1mo
CBee @CatLass007 awesome 🤩 1mo
AmyG I am going to count my Sunday Buddy Read Book….it‘s YA. Not my genre. 1mo
CBee @AmyG sounds good to me ♥️ 1mo
julieclair I‘m going to use the #LittensLoveRomance selection for this month (title still to be determined). The genre is Steampunk - totally new to me! 4w
CBee @julieclair perfect 🤩 4w
OriginalCyn620 @CBee I looked through the books I own and did come across this NF, so I‘ll read it for the challenge this month! I love her anyway, so I‘m looking forward to it! 4w
CBee @OriginalCyn620 I‘ve heard it‘s good! 4w

While I enjoyed this story it didn‘t quite scratch the same itch that Mickey7 did. While a quick, short read overall the individual chapters were actually quite long (only 10 in the whole story). The main character - murderbot - didn‘t really show any emotions at all, which on one hand I get, but on the other it made it hard to care about the story overall. Will I continue the series? Most likely yes, at least the next one! 🌟🌟🌟💫

897 pages later, and I am a better person for it. Masterful, brilliant, heart wrenching, full of anger and sadness and wit and humor. I absolutely loved it. And yep, I know this much is true 😉
(Side note: Wally Lamb lists Mrs. Piggle Wiggle as the first book he read that inspired his writing life. I LOVED Mrs. PW 😊♥️).

Ruthiella I too adored Mrs. Piggle Wiggle as a child. I re-read them a few years ago and still found them delightful. ❤️ 1mo
AmyG I love Mrs Piggle Wiggle! My Mom used to read those to me. 1mo
CBee @Ruthiella @AmyG ♥️♥️♥️ I might need to find them and read them again! 1mo

Amiable This is one of my all-time favorite books—I re-read it every few years or so. 😍 Wally Lamb is a wonderful writer and person —I‘ve actually met him a few times! He used to teach at UConn and I would run into him at the gas station in Willimantic when I worked at another state university nearby. 😄 1mo
CBee @Amiable oh, how awesome is that? He seems like he would be super nice. This book sat on my shelf for years. I think I was intimidated by the size! But, it was so worth it ♥️ 1mo
