pickI liked The Safe Place & couldn't wait to get The Shadow House. I found my palms sweating with this one. I don't know if it was because of the maternal themes or if it was because Downes does such a fabulous job creating foreboding, rich atmospheres but it got to me. Creepy, tense, & unnerving, this was another great book by this author. An easy ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

pickThe Shadow House is the second thriller written by Anna Downes. I really enjoyed The Safe Place so was excited to dive into this one. Downes is really great at setting the scene. I always feel like I am living inside her novels. Taking place in an ecovillage in Australia, The Shadow House took me to a location and community I've never experienced before. With a few fun twists and turns, this book kept me guessing up until the very end.

An ok read for me. I was a bit disappointed because I really enjoyed her first book.

pickThe Shadow House was a twisted thriller that I really enjoyed. Told from the viewpoints of two women, Alex and Renee, the two different perspectives and personalities wonderfully tell the story, playing off each other and coming together perfectly at the end. I liked that there are so many strong, fierce female characters in this novel. I also loved all of the mysteric aspects of this novel. I highly recommend this novel!
