This is the 2nd book I‘ve read by Leonard Pitts Jr and it was a fantastic read. He writes historical fiction beautify. We follow Sam who goes back to the south right after slavery was abolished to find is Love Tilda. An interesting storyline which isn‘t explored very much. I highly recommend this book and The Last Thing You Surrender, which was the 1st book I read this year by this author. Discussion tonight with my patreon book club. Can‘t wait!

Clarkknowles Wolf Whistle is one of my very favorite books and Lewis Nordan one of my very favorite authors. Whistle is about a very serious subject--a lynching--but it's also funny and strange and it breaks all sorts of rules. Even though I read it nearly 20 years ago, several of the scenes are still right there with me. Remind me sometime to tell you what Lewis Nordan said about how he came to write the book. I so hope you enjoy. 8y

BekahB I've had The White Devil sitting on my shelf for a couple years now. I need to get to it! Stephen King listed it when writing about new horror he's really liked, which is why I bought it. I love the paperback cover! 8y
