pickThis is the third part of a trilogy of photographic books that document the loss of East Africa‘s wildlife. I also read the second, A Shadow Fall, this weekend. The photos are remarkable, but of course the subject is heartbreaking. The author/ photographer started a nonprofit to help with protecting the parks there in the 2000‘s.
pickThis is the 3rd book in a 3 part series written as a photo elegy to the disappearing animals in East Africa. The images are beautiful and haunting, shot in black and white on medium format film in the early 00s and 2010s. Brant isn‘t just a casual observer of this environment. The intro is filled with photos of elephants that he can tell you the names of, followed by how soon after the photos were taken they were killed by poachers. 👇🏼
