Her Dying Day: A Novel | Mindy Carlson
2 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
Perfect for fans of Shari Lapena and Hannah Mary McKinnon, a mystery writers sudden disappearance leads a budding filmmaker down a dark road to treachery, murder, and long-buried sins. Aspiring filmmaker June Masterson has high hopes for her first documentary, the true story of the disappearance of famed mystery author Greer Larkin. June learned about the vanishing at age fourteen, locked down on her familys isolated commune. Now, the deeper she digs into the project, the darker the story gets. Everyone has a theory. Greers mother, Blanche, and her best friend, Rachel, believe that Greers fianc, Jonathan, is the culprit. Greers agent is convinced that Greer committed suicide after a debilitating bout of writers block. And Jonathan claims it was either Greers controlling mother or Rachel, whose attachment to Greer went way beyond friendship. In desperation, Rachel gives June a suitcase full of Greers most personal writings in hopes of finding proof against Jonathan. Then Rachel turns up dead. As June pores over Greers writings, she makes a devastating discovery that could finally reveal the truth about the authors fate. But now, June finds herself in the sights of a killer wholl stop at nothing to keep their darkest secret.

If you‘ve never been stuck under the bed while your lover has sex with his wife, I suggest you skip it.

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. I loved the premise of this one, a mystery writer goes missing, presumed dead, with a few possible suspects and an amateur sleuth with a tongue in cheek sense of humour is determined to find out what really happened. This book held my attention throughout, well written, with interesting characters and some unexpected turns I didn't anticipate. Well worth reading ⭐⭐⭐⭐
