The 14th book in the series is well done! The Mitford characters never lose their richness and indeed grow more interesting over time. Why did I put off reading this series for so long...

I enjoyed this book. I love how the author introduces you to the people in these books. You grow to care so much for all of them. I liked reading about Father Tim‘s new temporary career and the prayerful way he goes about making decisions. I am glad I still have one to go in the series❤️
I have spent most of my weekend back in Mitford and I am enjoying it. I have read the first books in the series many times and for some reason have been hanging on to the last two on my TBR pile. I have missed these friends of mine❤️
It's been a while since I've read the others and it was good to revisit the comfortable town and beloved characters. There wasn't much that was earth-shattering. Father Time became a part-time bookseller and found that even with that title he could still serve the Kingdom. It serves as a good reminder that we all greet each day with the ability to be a comforter and good-deed-doer.
I loved the original Mitford series, but when Karon took Father Tim out of the village, I felt those books never worked as well or moved me as the earlier books. This is true to the originals. The setting and characters are wonderful. My husband refers to these as gentle stories, and I can‘t think of a better description. Perfect holiday reading.
Next book up. Usually I reread Karon‘s Christmas book, Shepherds Abiding, but since I still haven‘t read this, I figured it was time. You can‘t go wrong reading a Mitford novel around the holidays.
#bestblurbs This is an interesting challenge, but when it's a day like today--I've got laryngitis and just want the world to go away--I want a place like Mitford. #seasonsreadings2016
I have always loved this series. This book isn't hitting me like some of the other ones, but then I just read this quote...and it hit me, we all just want to fly, to know, to explore, to see what's out there...
