Loved the story. I enjoyed the setting just as much as the story. The only gripe I have (and it‘s a me problem, not a book problem) is that I often got the main characters and timelines confused. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

From the #epigraph of one of my January First Reads picks #Curse #ScaryFebruary
This was my Kindle First Reads pick and I‘m so glad I chose this one. This is told from the perspective of two different characters and timelines but done in a way that isn‘t jarring. This writer has done an excellent job of bringing the Ozark‘s to life. Do mind the TW‘s if you have sensitivity to child abuse and sexual abuse.
My Amazon first reads choices for the month. I don't usually read thrillers, but a woman knocking on someone's door thinking it's her own and seemingly having too much in common with the woman inside had me wondering. Also, a gothic book set in a depression era haunted town in the Ozarks? Call me intrigued.
