A great parenting book, even if I had to skip several sections that were focused on younger children than my two (pictured here, goof balls!). This book helps parents know that kids are ultimately “good inside” as are the parents themselves. We all want what‘s best for our kids even if their behavior brings up feelings and emotional responses from us, when parenting. We need to remind ourselves that WE as parents are good inside too.
Thoughtful approach to parenting, focused on connection (rather than trying to control behavior) in order to raise secure and self-possessed people.
The most accessible book on raising kids I‘ve read. Child development and psychology is all in here but very easy to understand and to take from. I like how she sometimes used adult relationships to put some of her points across about how to talk to children when they‘re upset etc. If I was asked to recommend a book on parenting it would definitely be this one. #nonfiction2023 - Good as Hell

I loved this. It's full of practical advice for how to effectively parent through different scenarios and to be the parent you want to be.
Today's book haul.
I loved this book. It has parenting tips, some I skipped since my kids are older now, but most of this book was so applicable to teaching and relationships. We know we are better people/ parents/ teachers when we are calm- this book centers behaviors in way so that one can understand the cause to help you stay calm and not take certain behaviors personally. Fantastic.
5 ⭐️s! Life-changing. Dr. Becky‘s focus on connection over control just feels right. She outlines parenting principles that have transformed my perspective and offers empowering strategies for understanding and addressing behaviors. Her work helps break unhelpful family cycles and rewire our children and ourselves. Anyone involved in a kid‘s life could benefit from this brilliant, compassionate book. I know I will reference and recommend it often!
