Hello! It‘s my last full week of school this year so I‘ve started my christmas clear out. I accumulate a lot of books throughout the year and doing a book a day starting the week before finals helps me feel more fulfilled and keeps me distracted from the terrible weather. This was book 3 and though I didn‘t love it as much as I loved other hoo or pj books it was still solid. I really appreciated the emphasis on dealing with trauma. 7.5/10
I read Anger is a Gift by Mark Oshiro a few years ago. While that book was amazing, it was also extraordinarily dark. So naturally I was terrified for this book. But I felt that both Riordan‘s and Oshiro‘s writing came through in the perfect mesh. It was definitely the darkest Percy Jackson book I‘ve read and dealt with heavier themes, but I still loved it. 5🌟
This was probably my least favorite of Rick Riordans books. I found this surprising as Nico has long been one of my favorites, and the journeys through Tartarus are always cool. I just found the personal messages and teaching moments very heavy-handed. Maybe this is what middle graders need, but for me, it was too much romance /self exploration and not enough adventure.
I'm a Percy Jackson fan for life, and a book centering my fave Nico? SOLD. The drama feels like it wraps up fairly quickly in spite of the length (did we need *that* much time with the trogs?), but I loved every bit of Nico facing his demons and he and Will's sorely needed Deep Chats. It got a little preachy for me at times, but all in all I love the unabashed queerness of the whole thing. So glad this was my kickoff read for Pride; go pick it up!
It‘s so nice to be cozy and comfy and off for the summer and back into reading novels. Enjoying this one and hoping to finish it this week! Loving the chemistry of Will and Nico!
It was weird to get back in the Percy Jackson universe after so long! I haven‘t finished the Trials of Apollo series yet but I understood what was going on. Nico and his boyfriend Will have to go to Tartarus to free an ally, but Nyx is the enemy, hating the concept of change or in-between. There‘s a lot of queer symbolism here, but FFS I just want Nico to be happy. A pick, but I like the original series best.
Nico de Angelo & Will Solace must travel through Tartarus to right an old wrong & rescue a lost friend.
This was so much fun! I‘m so glad Nico finally gets a story, & it delves so deeply into his traumas & his past. We get content for so many characters, interesting new monsters, & an exploration of growth vs stagnation that I found poignantly relevant. Nico‘s constant pop culture references were a little odd, but overall I loved this. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
I‘ve been waiting for this one!!!! Nico has been a side character through both Percy Jackson series and he finally gets his own book! With his BOYFRIEND!! As they go to the pits of the underworld to save a friend. Absolutely loved. Rick bringing in a queer co-author to make it inclusively written and modern, gods it‘s everything I wanted it to be and more.
This was an amazing book about a son of darkness and one of the sun coming to terms with each other. I didn‘t see Will being “whiny”, he doesn‘t understand Nico‘s nonchalance at the darkness. I love how cute they are together, how much they balance each other. Balance change with acceptance. So many good quotes. I laughed out loud and cried (ending especially) and just felt immense joy. Bob is still amazing. Hades, too, I enjoyed

Nico didn't answer at first. “I think, after what I just went through," he said eventually, "the best thing I can say to you is that we are not only one thing forever. We're allowed to change at any point in our lives. We don't have to be stuck with a label someone else assigns us. Gods, we don't even have to stick to a label we give ourselves. Never have I ever been to a book tour event that was so much FUN. Everyone acted like crazy fangirls. Excited to get this going to see what they mentioned on their process through Tartarus and learning about each other more. It was Marks comment about the importance of Platonic love (a shoutout to aces) and his comment that the end is about Nico being told he made an impact on those who love him.based off Riordans impact

For fans of Percy Jackson and the Percy Jackson world... More is coming. May 2, 2023
I‘m rejoicing all right. Nico is a beloved character from the first series 10 years ago. He‘s suffered over everything his entire life. I look forward to seeing him and his boyfriend be happy. Rick and Mark, please let him be happy. Even if they‘re going through Tartarus.
