pickI ❤️ The Roanoke Girls and The Familiar Dark by this author. Loved them so much that I couldn‘t wait for the paperback of her latest novel. Sadly, this book wasn‘t nearly as good as those ones were. It‘s still a pick and there were some things I liked and the last third was better, but it wasn‘t as punch-you-in-the-gut as the others…and even the writing seemed more mainstream thriller. I have not had a stellar reading month. 😫

1. My dad used to dazzle my friends with a hysterical story about climbing Mt. Everest, which was not true, but was so funny. Every memory of my mom is my favourite because she was just…all the things. This photo of them is how I like to think of them, even though they divorced when I was in my early 20s.

pick𝟒.𝟐𝟓⭐The writing and narration drew me in and left me completely engaged in this story. I really love AE‘s writing in all her books. While they tend to go to the dark side of life; they always make an impression. And since I‘m partial to her work…maybe, that‘s why I liked it more than most readers. Although I did have a few discrepancies with the reasons for the perpetrator's actions, I still would recommend it, especially in Audio format.
pickThis book kept me engaged from start to finish. It was important for Greer to return to her family home to understand more about what happened to her sister. This is a story around so many things. The murder of a sister, the impact on the family and also the town as a whole and about friendship and love. The ending I did not see coming. Definitely an author I will follow
pickGood creepy tale about love, murder, betrayal, and hope. Lots of red herrings and confusion that all becomes clear in the end!
