One mans quest for his destiny leads him to the New World and into the heart of the American Revolution Meet Phillipe Charboneau: the illegitimate son and unrecognized heir of the Duke of Kentland. Upon the Dukes death, Phillipe is denied his birthright and left to build a life of his own. Seeking all that the New World promises, he leaves London for America, shedding his past and preparing for the future by changing his name to Philip Kent. He arrives at the brink of the American Revolution, which tests his allegiances in ways he never imagined. The first volume of John Jakess wildly successful and highly addictive Kent Family Chronicles, The Bastard is a triumph of historical fiction. This ebook features an illustrated biography of John Jakes including rare images from the authors personal collection.

My sister who passed away in April left a house full of every gift she ever received and everything she ever loved. She kept a paperback set of these books from the 70s. Omg - if she saw what I saw today she would have been giddy with the find! I must be content with this picture though since I‘m best to honor her with some of her actual possessions. But it‘s even buy 4 get 1 free and 30% off day!

DivineDiana I am sorry to learn about the loss of your sister. How wonderful that books remind you of her love. ❤️ 3y
Bklover I‘m so sorry for your loss! I remember reading these when they came out way back when! 3y
marleed @DivineDiana @Bklover Oh thank you - she was an amazing woman. It was so fun to come across these today. I felt like she was sending me a reminder to hold her close to my heart today! (edited) 3y

marleed @AmyG Thank you. I was just thinking that coming across them was almost like seeing a photo I‘d long forgotten about. 3y
TEArificbooks I am sorry for your loss. My grandma passed away 2 years ago and I truly believe she sends me reminders. I recently had a bad day and then I saw a robin (her favorite bird) and it warmed my heart, just what I needed. I hope you see more of your sisters reminders. 3y
CoverToCoverGirl Sorry for your loss. 💜 Books keep us connected in so many ways. It‘s wonderful that you both shared such a deep love of books. 3y
AmyG Yes! Seeing these books reminded me of going to my belived local library….such happy memories. 3y
marleed @mdm139 @CoverToCoverGirl Thank you. I was convinced she‘s with me on my flight home following her passing. My flight out of Bozeman MT was grounded, and to get back to Kansas City involved 22 hours flying to Seattle to Chicago to Kansas City. I had with me a prescription bottle of her ashes and I‘m convinced she wanted me to fly with her to her 2 favorite big cities. Seattle to visit my brother‘s spirit and Chicago for a Wrigley flyover! 3y
