This was a slow burn thriller ripped from the headlines. Amber and Joe are high school sweethearts and prom night is meant to be an epic night for the couple, and it is but not in the way they expected. The aftermath results in Amber returning to Baltimore to open a gallery, she swears she'll stay away from Joe, but that's just one promise she's not able to keep. I enjoyed this read, I love stories that have their root in some truth. 🌟🌟🌟✨
This is a character-driven novel instead of a thriller. Readers will enjoy it more if they don‘t expect thrills! An infamous “prom mom” returns to her hometown just before the (real life) pandemic and gets reconnected with her prom date. You know something bad is going to happen but how it ends up is a surprise. Everyone in this book is troubled and I was curious about what they‘d do under pressure.
I usually love Lippman's books, but this one was slow and lackluster until the end, but then the ending seemed rushed. Maybe I just missed something along the way.
I really, really enjoyed this book. A slow burn and I didn‘t want to put it down. Even though I disliked all got he characters, except maybe Amber. Overall i give it 4.5/5 ⭐️ *My toddler decided to be a hand model the moment I took this photo 🙃🤣*
THRILLER - MYSTERY
Prom night didn't turn out the way Amber would have wanted it to turn out.
PROM MOM is a slow build up with mostly unlikable characters, especially Joe, and a plot that makes you wonder where this story line is going.

After another #Aardvark playlist deep dive, I'm pretty convinced that this is a likely choice. The lyrics include themes of infidelity, lingering anger, returning home, death, and one whole song legit about a vibrator ? - what I'm dubbing the "vibrator song" struck me as a fit for a woman that's been hiding from her tabloid past (having been accused of killing her baby on prom night) and must not have an active dating life. Love the music clues!
