I've read 200 pages of this werewolf novel today and absolutely love it, but it is also a very tricky book to discuss without wading into spoiler territory.

Continuing my journey of “oh shoot, I read that and forgot to review it”. I read Junie in, well, June. It was great but the time since I‘ve read it has diminished my ability to remember specifics of the story. I do remember some intense scenes and a tangled web of characters—enslavers and enslaved. Traumatic, but I have read others in this genre with more of a lasting impact.

A delightful little gem. Highly recommend. Especially as an antidote to the mundane Thursday murder club.

Absolutely loved this - almost “light Hilary Mantel” if that makes sense. More license taken with plot & characters, plus a whole lot of sarcasm & swearing! But it really puts you in a Tudor world, amongst the servants w their POV, or amongst the scheming nobles. Good writing, great understanding of the time, a little modern sensibility of the prejudices, and lots going on as a young boy falls into a plot against the new king.

Just started and highly intrigued! Didn‘t expect to be gripped as quickly as I am.

This book accomplishes quite a feat for a slasher: it‘s equally terribly thrilling and poignantly moving. You can feel the love the author poured into the cast of elderly characters, rendering them with spirit and complexity, still chock-full of life. It‘s pacey and murderous, but it‘s also brimming with strength and hope. #Aardvark #AardvarkBookClub

The story is crazy and over the top, and the MC Lottie is pretty lovable. On the one hand, she‘s a sweet and unsuspecting senior citizen with bingo games at her church and ailments galore. On the other hand, she‘s left a years-long trail of murders in her wake and isn‘t above committing more to keep her name clear. No one is safe around Lottie.
This be a super fun TV show. I hope someone develops it. 🔪🔨📺
