The organ recipient getting involved in the donor‘s family‘s life is an enjoyable trope for me, so it was no surprise I rated this highly!

Rosie is a romantic and when she loses a long-term bf, she‘s heartbroken. But she finds out she‘s developed cardiomyopathy, too, and needs a transplant. Her donor is the wife of a local author. She starts corresponding with him by anonymous email, but his wife‘s death may not have been an accident. #aardvark

Hmm 🤔 wasn‘t a fan of this one. Ji-Won is an 18 year old college student struggling through lost friendships, her parents divorce, and her mother‘s new, creepy bf. She feels responsible for protecting her mother and younger sister all while her mental health is deteriorating. The chapters were extremely short and i really didn‘t like any of the characters. There was a lot (towards the end) that was questionable. First half was extremely slow.

I recently discovered Jordaline Reads on YouTube; she‘s a queer horror book tuber. She‘s inspired me to branch out into trashy genre fiction. So I got this book about a woman obsessed with her heart donor‘s widow. The plot is totally ridiculous but that is the point. Such a guilty pleasure! #aardvark

Both my #botm and #aardvark books came in today! Might have went a little overboard! But am so excited for all of these!

I picked this fantasy book, though the scifi looked good too. This is def my genre but I usually skip this geo. We'll see how this goes. 🤞

New month for #aardvark and once again I filled my box! (My excuse that I‘m having surgery next week and may not be able to get to the library.) I couldn‘t miss out on The Reformatory again even though I‘m a bit worried about the length. The other two are mystery/thriller tropes that work well for me. What did everyone else pick?

Megabooks @Suet624 yup. I‘m getting spayed. (Lol…total hysterectomy.) I‘m excited. I‘ve wanted to do it for the last year but was (and still am) a bit nervous. However, I‘m afraid 45 pt 2 will take away my right to decide so January 8 it is! 3w

Suet624 Well good for you. Seems like a smart decision. It‘s a lot easier to recover from nowadays. Not to say it‘s a small thing - it‘s definitely a big decision - but in the old days it was a very long recovery due to how they did the surgery. Best wishes for a quick recovery. 3w
AardvarkBookClub We wish you a speedy recovery friend! 🩷 3w
vlwelser Speedy recovery! The Reformatory is excellent and quite long, so great pick. Lauren E Rico's other book was excellent and I look forward to seeing how you feel about the new one. Megan Collins is always entertaining. 3w

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What an incredible last book of 2024! I could tell within the first couple of paragraphs that this book is special. It has a vibrant energy radiating off the page, as if the words and characters could spring to life and waltz right into your heart. And I think they did?! I just loved it. #Aardvark #AardvarkBookClub

I loved this. Set in France when the pope was in Avignon, during a plague, a young woman tries to increase her medical knowledge while also not being turned into a scapegoat. Highly recommend.

I loved this comic book thriller! From the comics pages as part of the story to the good guy versus supervillain showdown in the end.

Annie grew up loving comics with her best friend Danny. As adults, they work for the same comic book company. When they both quit, their lives go in opposite directions. When Annie is given the chance to revive a favorite discontinued character, she gets more trouble than she bargained for. #aardvark
