Star Wars: Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade
Star Wars: Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade | Delilah S. Dawson
8 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
When the Jedi Order falls, an Inquisitor Rises. Padawan Iskat Akaris has dedicated her life to traveling the galaxy alongside her master, learning the ways of the Force to become a good Jedi. Despite Iskats dedication, peace and control have remained elusive, and with each setback, she feels her fellow Jedi grow more distrustful of her. Already uncertain about her future in the Jedi Order, Iskat faces tragedy when her master is killed and the Clone Wars engulf the galaxy in chaos. Now a general on the front lines contributing to that chaos, she is often reminded: Trust in your training. Trust in the wisdom of the Council. Trust in the Force. Yet as the shadows of doubt take hold, Iskat begins to ask questions that no Jedi is supposed to ask: Questions about her own unknown past. Questions the Jedi Masters would consider dangerous. As the years pass and the war endures, Iskats faith in the Jedi wanes. If they would grant her more freedom, she is certain she could do more to protect the galaxy. If they would trust her with more knowledge, she could finally cast aside the shadows that have begun to consume her. When the Jedi Order finally falls, Iskat seizes the chance to forge a path of her own. She embraces the salvation of Order 66. As an Inquisitor, Iskat finds the freedom she has always craved: to question, to want. And with each strike of her red blade, Iskat moves closer to claiming her new destiny in the Forcewhatever the cost.

📚📚📚📚📚 Iskat Akaris is my spirit animal. I didn‘t realize that I‘d basically read the end of this novel when I read Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith #20 earlier this year. Loved Iskat‘s development and general dissatisfaction with the Jedi. (Late post April) #litsystarwarsbuddyread #starwars

This book follows Iskat from her early days as a Jedi Padawan to her conversion to Inquisitor under the Empire. It's good, but as usual, Dawson likes her sad endings 🖤

Bookish Songs Nr. 5( & 59: The Phoenix - Fall Out Boy & Big Bad Wolf - Roses & Revolutions

This book was so good, I found two songs for it! Or rather - they found me. First came The Phoenix and I immediately was like “That's it!“ I wasn't looking for another song, when “Big Bad Wolf“ came up and I listend to it twice, because first I wasn't paying attention too much. So I now have two songs for one book.

How come that all those new Star Wars books are getting better and better? Iskat is so fascinating and Dawson really took her time to shape a deep character. I now also want to read the comics she's featured in. This book is a real character study and I was involved from beginning to the end. Wow!

In March we met up with Cal and Crew in Battle Scars.
Now it's time for the dark side to rise.

As always if anyone wants to be added or removed just let me know.

And May the Force Be With You Always

This is the first new canonical novel I've read in about a year and a half, and it was excellent. Dawson's other books, Phasma and Black Spire, are two of my favorites, and I really enjoyed this trek to the dark side.

TieDyeDude @RamsFan1963 The Vader voice was indeed awful 😅 8mo

76/150 For some reason, I enjoy SW books that deal with the bad guys more than the ones about the Jedi. Iskat Akaris begins as a padawan during the Clone Wars, and quickly promoted to Jedi Knight. Always feeling like an outsider and questioning the Jedi way, Iskat's journey from Jedi to Inquisitor for the Empire makes for a tragic but fascinating tale. I only have one fault with the book,

RamsFan1963 the narrator does a lousy version of Darth Vader. It had bass but never the dark menacing tone James Earl Jones gave the character. Other than that, the narration was great. 1y
Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏
I really need to read more of these.

TieDyeDude Agreed about villain books, probably because, aside from Palpatine, they are rarely truly evil. I'm looking forward to reading this. The Phasma novel was really good, too. 1y
