BEST part of this delightful edition is not that it is author signed, but Illustrator signed! I always loved me a Thomas Canty cover. He was on ALL the fantasy books I devoured when I first admitted reality was no longer my thing and jumped into fantasy with both feet 😁

rubyslippersreads 😍🌞🌛⭐️😍 8y
aeeklund I love his covers. I have SO many of them!! 8y
elkeOriginal @aeeklund There was actually a book I did not enjoy and when I donated it, I kept his dustjacket just to hold onto the art 😯 8y

aeeklund @elkeo I've totally done that. I think it was a Trina Schart Hyman cover. 8y
JazzFeathers Beautiful 😍😍😍😍 8y

This is the newest - for my collection - volume in the Fairy Tales series Terri Windling spearheaded in the '80-90s. I saw a posting here on Litsy and went looking - it was always the edition that eluded me. It seems to be a #retelling of a Hungarian folktale and sports a Canty illustrated cover. Best part? Well, 2nd best part is the original press release tucked inside. Dated 1987. The actual best part in next post...

aeeklund I love this series so much (she said, surprising exactly ZERO people). 8y
elkeOriginal ZERO. I need to take a photo of my whole set when I get home 😁 8y

An understated, thoughtful book that weaves a Hungarian fairy tale into the narrative about a painter and his attempts to make art, his relationships with other artists, and the question of what drives the creative impulse.

quirkyreader Thomas Canty created the best covers. 8y
batsy @quirkyreader Yeah! Stunning covers for The Fairytale Series. 8y
JazzFeathers Sounds fantastic! 8y
elkeOriginal I LOVE this Fairy Tales series! I think this may be the one I never could find 👏👏 8y
batsy @elkeo I was so happy to find this at a used bookstore awhile back. @JazzFeathers It's a lovely book, imo ☺️ 8y

Partial #shelfie featuring much-loved old mystery paperbacks, most of which my sisters have had since the 70s and I've not claimed as my own ?, including a copy of Gaudy Night that's falling apart. And those Dana Girls mysteries by "Carolyn Keene" on the bottom right. Did anyone else read those? I loved them and wish I was more careful with keeping most of our copies. Some we've lost along the way and they're hard to find now. #riotgrams

Tonton Gaudy Night is the best, love to re-read. Says quite a bit for equality in love. 8y
batsy @Tonton Yes that's why I love to reread it, too! There's always something new to discover about relationships in that one; it's definitely a book that "ages" well. 8y
