Also a little haul from BN yesterday- the bogo half off got me, and I was really in the mood for some cozy murder mysteries; unfortunately the usual bookcase full of them is down to one single shelf tucked away 😕 but I was still able to find 2!

Although I enjoyed this YA novel not everything worked. The characters needed more development and the plot pacing was uneven. The story had a lot to recommend it. A princess that is more than meets the eye, a prince that looks the part of a hero and a reluctant hero with a gift set off to find and kill a dragon so they can all live happily ever after, but it is all more dangerous than they could ever imagine. Only 3/5 ⭐️ for this fairytale.
Dragons, a reluctant exterminator with a hidden power, a king & queen who love their princess, dragons, a king who wants his prince made in his image, dragons, an evil wizard, dragons, a quest, and more dragons. What‘s not to like?
Beagle has given us another charming story. I recommend it to everyone, but particularly those, who like me, are consumed by Resistance! It will gladden your heart, calm your mind, and encourage your spirit.
The title seems humorous but the prologue has an unknown menace approaching an unnamed village with the threat of extinction.
I‘ve just started the first chapter though, which has dragons scrambling over the (presumably) protagonist‘s bed and they seem about as threatening as kittens.
A gift. I want to read this book. It looks cute! 💙
Fantasy author Peter S Beagle pens another enchanted read of a kingdom invested with dragons and a hunter hired to exterminate the problem. Add in a frustrated princess forced to choose a suitor, a moral dilemma of epic proportions, and plenty of fairytale tropes that are satirical and fun in this adventure that is humorous and enjoyable from the author who wrote The Last Unicorn.
Dragon exterminator Robert, Princess Cerisse, and Prince Reginald find their worlds colliding when there‘s a new threat of magically bred dragons on the horizon.
I‘m so glad I read The Last Unicorn recently. Beagle has such a talent for lyrical writing that feels like a fairy tale. For all the briefness, we get character growth, adventure, fun side characters, a little romance, & a glimpse into a lush & fascinating world! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
When you get the chance to read Peter S. Beagle‘s first book in ages before it‘s even released, how could you say no? This one is being marketed as “The Princess Bride with dragons,” and I think that‘s pretty spot on. Keep an eye out for it to appear in shops mid-May!
