The Blonde Dies First
The Blonde Dies First | Joelle Wellington
4 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
The brand-new thrilling, chilling book from the icnredible author of Their Vicious Games. Devon Harris doesn't have much planned for the summer - until her sister, Drew, invites Devon to a very exclusive, private school party. Out of her element, Devon commits to being game at everything. Even when the private school kids ask her if there are fights at her school. Even when they ask her if her box braids are her real hair. Even when those weird ass kids pull out a Ouija board. But this seemingly harmless bit of fun has terrible consequences. Something has been released, and only a week later it's hunting Devon, Drew and their friends. Hunting them in an eerily familiar way . . . The real-life horror movie has begun. The blonde is up first, then the asshole - right up to the Final Girl. Unless the murderous cycle can be broken, they're all going to be next.

Devon is invited to an exclusive private school party by her twin, Drew. The girls have been together for most of their lives, but since Drew was taken out of their original school & sent to a private one an emotional distance has been growing between them. Now that Drew is graduating early, Devon knows that she will soon be leaving home, so she wants to give her sister one last amazing summer.

OutsmartYourShelf When a Ouija board is produced at the party, it seems harmless fun, but Devon begins to feel as if she is being watched. An attack at her job confirms this but it's what attacked her - not who. It seems a demon is now stalking their friend group & it seems to be following horror movie tropes on the order of victims. Devon is the blonde & first one up but when she survives it moves onto the next. Who will be the Final Girl? 2w
OutsmartYourShelf This is the first book I've read from this author & although reviews are quite mixed, I liked this one. It was quite slow to start off with but after the initial attack, things picked up so I'm glad I stuck with it. The characters are all a bit tropey (obviously due to the storyline) but it works quite well. Honestly I think this one is going to be like Marmite - most people are either going to really like it or hate it. 3.5🌟

This was...ok.
I enjoyed the friend group and the rules of scary movies. The blonde girl dies first and the final girl ends it. However, I found myself getting distracted after halfway through. And the ending was disappointing. 3⭐️

This book disappointed me. I guess I expected more because of how great the authors first book was. When I started reading the book, I was engaged, but after a while, the story started to drag. It felt like they were too many characters and the main character to me wasn‘t likable. I did like the twist at the end, but it wasn‘t as satisfying as it should‘ve been. #TheBlondeDiesFirst #JoelleWellington.

I got this book for free, in exchange for my honest opinion via NetGalley.
“The Blonde Dies First” is an engaging and suspenseful thriller/horror that captivated me from beginning to end. The storyline is filled with unexpected twists and turns, keeping me guessing throughout. The characters are well-crafted, each adding a unique dimension to the plot. Being the horror nerd that I am…
