I read the first book “The BlackThorn Key“ and I really liked it. So when I found that there was a second book I decided to read it.
Summary: The second book to the “BlackThorn Key“ tells an outbreak of the Black Plague has been spreading throughout London. Until a masked apothecary comes up with a cure.

FluffyTurtle A cure that surprisingly works. Christophers BlackThorn Shop is picked to recreate the remedy until an assassin threatens the apothecary's life. Chris and his friend Tom are searching for a way to find his identity and find the truth. 5y

this book takes place in London, England during the time of the black death. then, when melchior, a mysterious prophet appears in the town, everybody flocks to him for guidance and help. Until, and apothecary shows up with a cure for the plague. but when the apothecary is attacked by a assasin, Christopher Rowe ( the main character) has to find out what is happening. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes mystery and suspense books.

MissYaremcio Great job!! Is it as good as the first book? 5y

Christopher Rowe once again finds himself in trouble. This time the Black Death also known as the bubonic plague returns to London. When a so called prophet shows up that can magically heal people Christopher is already suspicious. Recommended for people that like suspense, magic, and London. I would say the tone is that your friends are the most important people you have. The pacing is pretty evenly spaced but the climax is close to the end

MissYaremcio Great review! Thank you Hayden for getting this in! 5y
MrsBabki I loved this series. I‘m glad I went outside what I usually read. You might like This Dark Endeavor. Maybe it is on Sora? 5y

This book is a realistic fiction book. These events are realistic but it never happened like this story. About the book: the plague begins and Christopher needs to try to cure people who have the disease. Christophers master, master Benedict, has passed away, but he left clues for Christopher to find to cure the plegue. Everything's ok until someone ruins everything, read to find out who and what happened!this book is very exciting ❤️

Nicole.Burman This book is really good. But the first ones good too 6y
Omnis Sounds like an apocalypse story.😂 (edited) 6y

Look at these beautiful, shiny covers! 😍I devoured The Blackthorn Key in one sitting a couple of years ago, but completely forgot about its sequels! I hope Mark of the Plague is as fun and fast-paced as the first book, I can't wait to start reading it 🤓#bookmail

I liked the second book in this series even better than the first. It had excellent call backs to the first book and once again pulled me into the time period. There was one secret I figured out about 20 chapters before the main character, but for the most part I was enjoyably in the dark until the author's intended reveals.

I also want to commend the reader of the audiobook, who did a great job with the voices without going overboard.

Working in a bookstore is great because you can always find something to read. On the flip side, working in a bookstore is terrible because it just reminds you how much great stuff you haven't read yet. This series hits me in all the same places that love Artemis Fowl so I was thrilled to see that the sequel was finally out!
