Someone Like You: An Oxford Novel | Lauren Layne
9 posts | 16 read | 9 to read
Lauren Layne’s bestselling Oxford Series continues with the poignant, heartwarming story of New York’s most eligible bachelor, Lincoln Mathis, a man who’s living a lie—until his dream woman takes away the pain. Lincoln Mathis doesn’t hide his reputation as Manhattan’s ultimate playboy. In fact, he cultivates it. But behind every flirtatious smile, each provocative quip, there’s a secret that Lincoln’s hiding from even his closest friends—a tragedy from his past that holds his heart quietly captive. Lincoln knows what he wants: someone like Daisy Sinclair, the sassy, off-limits bridesmaid he can’t take his eyes off at his best friend’s wedding. He also knows that she’s everything he can never have. After a devastating divorce, Daisy doesn’t need anyone to warn her off the charming best man at her sister’s wedding. One look at the breathtakingly hot Lincoln Mathis and she knows that he’s exactly the type of man she should avoid. But when Daisy stumbles upon Lincoln’s secret, she realizes there’s more to the charming playboy than meets the eye. And suddenly Daisy and Lincoln find their lives helplessly entwined in a journey that will either heal their damaged souls . . . or destroy them forever. And after I finished Egomaniac on Saturday, I was still in the mood for romance and ended up reading this on Sunday. It had been hanging out on my Kindle for about a month and now was the time.

A solid addition to the series. It was a quick read about two characters with baggage that somehow managed not to get too angsty. Still, maybe a touch more angst than I was hoping for but I'm an angst-hater. 😉#romantsy

Chachic I haven't read any of her books but I have her on my TBR pile. 7y
MarriedtoMrT @Chachic I haven't read her whole catalog because some of her stories appeal to me more than others but her writing is always consistent so I've been buying her a lot more because I know I can count on a pick. Her Oxford/Stiletto series are great. I also really liked 7y
MarriedtoMrT @Chachic My favorite of hers was my first and also her only NA that I know of but I haven't re-read it in a few years so I wonder if I would still love it as much now that she's evolved more as a writer. (edited) 7y

Awww, Lincoln's story finally! Lauren Layne is so good at contemporary romance, and this one lived up to the hype. This one could have gotten cliched angsty, but thankfully the tone is just right. #romantsy

Lauren Layne is an auto-read for me. And this story did not disappoint! Gobbled this one up in just a few hours. Looking forward to the next one in the series. #romantsy #laurenlayne

The two main characters, Daisy and Lincoln, (swoon, goes here ladies) both had dark and tragic pasts...as well as current events trying to break them down. They were utterly perfect together. The story was so deep and emotional. Yet, I still got that wonderful character banter that Layne is such a genius at creating. This book was PACKED full of the scenes featuring the Sex, Love & Stiletto/Oxford series characters and I loved it. LOVED. IT.

It's here!!! Lauren Layne is my favorite contemporary romance author, and this book in particular I've been SUPER impatiently waiting for. We're talking very, very not patiently. So pumped to start it! #romantsy
