This books reads like ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World‘ if you swapped black widow for the titular character. A lot of music, band issues and social drama that would work if it all weren‘t in the service of a character who has fought alongside the Justice League. Not terrible, just an awkward alliance of tone and character.

Black Canary is in a band now, but the bad guys keep following her. A promising start to a comic series. I love the art, and the story has the potential to be really good if the characters are more fleshed out in the other issues. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love the representation of music in this book. The art is angular and dark, with a palette of eye-popping colors. I liked this even more than I expected!
