pickI feel like someone should write a paper about the creation, idealization, and destruction of simple binaries and how that relates to magic in this book and English Language fantasy. There‘s a lot going on there even if the bare bones of the story are YA wish fulfillment. Also, I desperately want to know why the protagonist is from Florida, while the magic school is in Scotland, and the author is Australian.

I should not be allowed near books in shops, but here we are. Seeing as using the library has saved me over $800 since January first I think it‘s ok to buy myself one book, surely. Now where am I going to put it?
pickI really enjoyed Unhallowed Halls. It was a mix of dark academia and cosmic horror. Themes of friendship and trust were explored. It did get a little confusing toward the end, but was still a satisfying read. 4.5 stars

Page has always been an outcast and has been involved in several magical yet deadly incidents. Wanting a new start Page throws herself into school life. She even befriends a popular group of students. Soon Page learns that everything is not what it seems at the school.
