so-so

I love Mackinac Island. I enjoy locked room mysteries. Unfortunately these two pluses didn‘t come together to make me love this story of a grandmother and her estranged granddaughter trying to solve murders, a case of blackmail, and establish ownership of a successful video game. Bookzombie I started this one on audio a few weeks ago and it wasn‘t great. Maybe I won‘t pick up the print either. 2w

This was the exact book I needed right now, full of snarky humor with so many mentions of mystery and crime characters. I loved every minute of it. Two sleuths, a granddaughter and her grandmother, have an IRL locked room-style murder on their hands, when a snowstorm isolates their hostess‘s house from the outside world, leaving a killer to target the guests one by one. While there is a lot of humor, there are somber moments, and you can see ⬇️⬇️

I‘m inhaling this book—with gem statements like the quote above, I think this is going to be an absolutely fun read. And, I adore Mimi.

This is also giving me Richard Osman vibes for character, wit, and fun back stories.

Sorry I haven‘t posted in a while #BookSky! That doesn‘t mean I haven‘t been reading! I finished up 2 books this week. #ThisIsNotAGame and #OneDeathAtATime. Both of these were excellent mysteries featuring older women and younger Gen Z sidekicks. Both of these are 4 ⭐️

This was very much a cosy murder mystery with a modern Agatha Christie feel to it. I loved the location and the uniqueness of the locked room side of the mystery. I have to admit that I wasn't totally sure on the killer as I was too busy enjoying the ride to the big reveal. It made sense and its a recognised way but I liked it. The plot was simple and fun. Mimi is brilliant and I loved Addie too. The ending was perfect. Netaglley 4*
