Finally purchased this....I‘m really interested in seeing what Dr. Joy DeGruy‘s research say about its lasting impact on black bodies/well being and health. #books #booklover #newbooks #socialjusticereads

I've been putting off purchasing this book for a long time. It happened to be in my BN.com cart when I went to purchase a different book earlier this week and figured the universe was reminding me I have some hard reading ahead. For an idea of what she's talking about, here's a recent article about stress and trauma passed from generation to generation. http://www.ozy.com/fast-forward/can-trauma-be-passed-from-parent-to-child/70261

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Looks like a good 'hard' read and one I had not heard of before. I will look for it too. 8y
Bibliogeekery Looks interesting (and hard) 8y
BlackandBookish I'm hoping it brings answers, not more questions. 8y
PLeonieSmith Currently reading this book. There's a weekly chapter by chapter discussion on YT by The Global Black Feminist Reading Circle in case you want to follow. https://plus.google.com/communities/109823766431320278457 8y
BlackandBookish @PLeonieSmith oh thanks! I haven't picked it back up yet but I'll check out the link. 8y
