Need to read to my son. Lost a bet. 😵
Does this count as #raisingreaders?

BTW, the English edition of this book has a nicer cover.

PS: yes, the sticker covers up the mess

Lcsmcat Yes, it counts! Anyone who considers being read to a prize is a reader. 6y
MidnightBookGirl Haha, I have also used stickers to hid my mess! 6y

#ReadingResolutions Day 7: Magicians here are depicted to be a disreputable, #devious, untrustworthy lot. No wonder, the protagonist, Nathaniel is slowly becoming John Mandrake. No room for joy or bliss in this young boy‘s life. Not even a hint of romance. The only person who would do anything to save his hide is in the person of the young girl (Kitty) whom he has viciously hunted since Book 1. My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-2v

Reading how Nathaniel turned out into those stuck up wizards was really amusing. I can't wait to see another moral conflict that would ensue him.

The Second book of the Bartimaeus trilogy seems just what the doctor ordered. I have to recommend these audiobooks to anyone else still in a funk after Tuesday. Also glad these books are holding up to a relisten after 15 years. 😂

BookishFeminist Oh I hate when books don't hold up to a reread/listen! Glad these do. 8y
Chachic I read the books years ago and I remember loving them! 8y

It started slower than the first one for me, but when it really got going, it was such a fun romp!! The new characters were very compelling, and there's just enough left unresolved to make Book 3 promising ðŸ‘ðŸ»

Trav Ptolemy's Gate for you next? 8y
mllemay @Trav yup! Already put a hold on it at my library and I think it should come in quickly ðŸ‘🻠I'm really excited to read it! 8y

I'm a big fan of audiobooks for long drives, durning housework & while building my dollhouse. I'm really into this one, the 2nd in the BARTIMAEUS trilogy. I fell in love with Jonathan Stroud's LOCKWOOD & CO. & am now enjoying his earlier work.
What ways do you enjoy books—without using actual books?

CarynCaldwell I love audio books, too. An excellent narrator can add a whole new dimension to the story, and I love that I can "read" while still doing other things such as exercising or washing dishes. 9y
HeidiSchulz @CarynCaldwell It is a great way to fit in more stories! 9y
