After yesterday‘s noise and mayhem, people are mostly gone & all is quiet now. I am reading, alternating between the cookbook/essay collection I got for Xmas & the novel I started last week. I caught my visitors‘ cold & can‘t speak 🤧🤫. We‘ll be having leftovers for lunch then go for a walk, hoping it kills the lurgies...
so-soAnd with that, I'm done with the African Immortals series. Although I think Due does an excellent---and creative---job of portraying the complicated relationship between parents and their children as they grow into adulthood, many times throughout this novel I found the characters' actions to be inconsistent or their motivations to be confusing, and the ending doesn't really satisfy me. It's possible that reading Joplin's Ghost might help a bit.
