Redemption per the kids for the green chile cornbread recipe from the tagged book - a “tamale” pie. My daughter reports the chiles are covered up. 😜

Freezing remainder of the cornbread for a future pie. #Mtcookbook

mcctrish I LOVE cornbread with my whole heart 9mo
Tamra @mcctrish it was delicious but the kids didn‘t like the green chiles. 🙄 Now I need to think of something to top it with so they‘ll happily eat it . 😆 (edited) 9mo

mabell I don‘t think it would work with the chicken, but I make panzanella with leftover cornbread 😊 This sounds yummy by the way! 9mo
Tamra @mabell I was thinking perhaps taco fillings - using the cornbread as a base. 🤔 Kind of an inverted taco pie or perhaps crumble the bread on top of the filling & melt cheese. 9mo
lazydaizee This looks tasty, save some for me. 8mo
mabell @Tamra You can never go wrong with taco pie or melted cheese 😄 8mo

I walked to my library today - first time in over a year - and spotted this raggedy juvenile Canada goose along the way. I spent some time leafing through this cookbook and found a couple of interesting recipes. It's about half recipes and half gardening/ homesteading advice.

Tamra At first glance I thought you got that close to the bird! 😃 3y

A one-man play about James Beard that exudes joy from every page. His passion for food and life is evident in this imagined conversation with the audience.

"Because food should taste good and it should be fun."

"Good entertaining is just being yourself, enjoying your role as host."

* For some reason Litsy isn‘t recognizing the actual play, but it is by James Still. #readathon

These simple beans were delicious last night, made even tastier by adding gochujang because all things are better with some spicy heat! 😋

I like this book and would like to add it to my library, but it contains a lot of homesteading advice I won‘t use. If I can find it used at a reasonable price I‘ll pick it up because many of the dishes look terrific.

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Looks delicious!! 4y

This was entertaining. Many chapters focused on an area; each chapter included a couple of recipes of things they mentioned in the chapter. I‘m not one who reads recipes, but each recipe had a story to go with it, so I did read that. I bake more than cook, and I‘m not an adventurous eater. That was one of the nice things about this book – though there were some odd things, much of it was just “American” food (bbqs, pies, ice cream, steak, etc).

Great collection of recipes based upon the United States if America!

(2/2) “It was not just the spices, ingredients, and cooking methods that Africanized the diet; it was the spirit imbued in this preparation. Its vocabulary snuck into the language of the South; its flavors pushed the preferences of Britain and Germany to the rear. Its manners determined the flow, and its communalizing nature brought the West and Central African influence together ... “ ⬇️ #history #cooking #AmericanFood
