This brought to mind Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp, and the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

Mdargusch I love those Wild West stories. #truthisstrangerthanfiction 6y

Basically the brain food of #mygeneration while I was growing up... So many summers spent re-reading the existing books in preparation for the next book and/or movie release ⚡️❤️

Cinfhen Confession: I bailed on the first HP and never picked up another one 🙊 (edited) 6y
Mdargusch Haha! @Cinfhen I read the first one so I knew what the hype was. Plus my overly religious sister said Harry Potter was evil and about the devil and I needed to be able to argue against that assertion since that‘s all my girls wanted to read. 😳 but one was enough. 6y
KathrynElise @Cinfhen 🐵🙊🙈 haha I honestly couldn‘t imagine never having read these. In saying that, I‘m also not sure I would have loved the series had I started them later on in life..? I can still re-read them now and love them, but it is more of a “nostalgic” type of love that may never have existed if I‘d been older when these became a hit 🤷🏼‍♀️ 6y

KathrynElise @Mdargusch haha my crazy religious uncle was rambling on for months about how these books were evil and from the devil, etc. and my parents wouldn‘t let me touch these when they first became popular! It took a parent-teacher meeting with my yr4 teacher (at an * Anglican * school) to convince them otherwise 🤦🏼‍♀️ I still can‘t believe the narrow mindedness of it 🙅🏼‍♀️haha 6y
Cinfhen Whoa!!! What is wrong with people????? HP the devil???? Really @Mdargusch @KathrynElise that‘s NUTS!!! 6y
Mdargusch Wow! @KathrynElise I can‘t believe someone else had that experience! I told my sister how wrong she was because to me it was a book about good overcoming evil (in a very simplistic explanation) @Cinfhen 6y
Reviewsbylola I really wanted to be a potter head but I wasn‘t that into them. 6y
emilyhaldi My husband loves Harry Potter and often tries to convince me to read them... I got through 2.5 and gave up. Just not for me!! 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
KathrynElise @Cinfhen tell me about it! Completely crazy, right? I really don‘t know what my parents were thinking at the time 🤷🏼‍♀️ @Mdargusch that‘s exactly the same argument my teacher used, thankfully enough. It‘s all about right vs wrong in the end, which is relevant regardless of whether you‘re religious or not. Who would ever think that a children‘s fantasy book could be so threatening though? 😔 6y
KathrynElise @Reviewsbylola @emilyhaldi they‘re not everyone‘s cup of tea I suppose 🙃 Although until I joined Litsy I honestly never realized how many people just aren‘t fans.. almost everyone I knew and/or associated with throughout primary school and high school were nuts about HP, so it‘s hard to imagine anything outside of that 🤔 Lol 6y
emilyhaldi I would say MOST people I know are HP fans and when they learn I‘m not they‘re horrified 😆 6y
KathrynElise @emilyhaldi haha honestly “horror” is always my knee-jerk reaction to someone saying they don‘t like HP 😂 But then I remember I‘m supposed to “adult” and be accepting of other people and their ideas and things, whether I understand them or not 😜 lol 6y
