A book recommanded by my singing coach as i might have a little problem finding the right tune.
It's an autobiography/research history. A bit dated but interesting.

I watched the Better Nate Than Ever musical film on Disney Plus not too long ago and enjoyed it. So I thought I'd just read the middle-grade novel it was based on. Not at all suprisingly, the book is better. Like way better. Like I was surprised at how excellent it is. Nate is sweet, smart, charming, resourceful, brave, and so funny. I LOL'd at various points (and yes, got choked up too). And I loved all the musical references.
I wanted to like this a lot more. Nate, a musical-loving misfit from small-town PA, sneaks to NYC for a clandestine audition. Lots of things go right, more things go wrong. Nate learns about the theater business, his family, and himself.
But he‘s self-centered (ok, he‘s 13, everyone‘s self-centered at 13) and completely unaware of what to expect from every aspect of his adventure. I liked it more as it went on, but overall it‘s a meh.
Library #bookhaul - my banned book. Ordered a pizza to pick up on the way home from the library but they said 30-45 minutes...so we sit in the library parking lot and read. At least this time I got something for myself!
Such a wonderful story! Nate sets out to make his dreams happen only to have things go terribly wrong! But .... there is a wonderful light at the end of his tunnel!
Great middle grade book!

I only read the first line of the summary and it said BROADWAY so I had to get it 🤩 seems it‘s a bit on the young side with the main character being only 13, but oh well. Show must go on. Does anyone have rec for a novel with Broadway setting? Just musical theater also goes 🙏🏻 #Broadway #musicals
I had such high expectations for this book, which is perhaps why I merely liked it. I found Nate's naiveté irritating at times. He reminded me of Jonah from Sleepless in Seattle with his tech savvy and "knowledgable" best friend helping him behind the scenes. While these characters were cute in a 90s rom-com, they feel a bit dated in 2017.
#FallIntoBooks Day 2: #BookRainbow - I have yet to read these books but they clearly seem 🌈 themed to me! :)
