My pick for #BackToReading |Day 8| #BannedBookLove | is #AnimalFarm ?by #GeorgeOrwell | "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
A farm is taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. With idealism and stirring slogans, they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice, and equality. A razor-edged satiric fable that records the evolution from revolution against tyranny to a totalitarianism just as terrible.
Jess7 Q. Why was #AnimalFarm banned? A. This novel represents the rise of #Communism in the #SovietUnion. After its publication, the novel was immediately banned by the Soviet Union and continues to be banned in #Cuba and #China. In its life this book has been banned at one time or another by as many as 126 countries. #BannedBooks #Freedom #KnowledgeIsPower #ReadABannedBook (edited) 7y
CindyMyLifeIsLit ❤️ this book, and get to teach it this year!! 7y
[DELETED] 3803335244 I will never understand why any books are banned, well besides pornography. I found out Winnie the Pooh was banned in some American States, because talking animals were an insult to God. Lol 😂 Winnie the Pooh! Has to make you stop & think! Oh wait that's why they ban some books, they want you not to think. 🤣😂 7y

Jess7 @CindyMyLifeIsLit I love it too! It is such a short, but important read! For anyone on the fence who didn't enjoy Orwell's other book #1984, don't let that deter you! To me, #AnimalFarm was a much easier (and shorter) read. Honestly, it didn't even feel like I was reading the same author. I #highlyrecommend this book to readers young and old everywhere! #Stackit #Stacked #BannedBooksOfLitsy (edited) 7y

britt_brooke @Jess7 I first read Animal Farm in 7th grade for school (too young) and hated it. I reread it at about age 30 and absolutely loved it. 7y
