An amazing story of an amazing human being.
Used this as a devotional companion to morning Bible study time. It‘s a wonderful guide to how to use the book of Psalms as a guide for prayer.

Halfway through Bonhoeffer‘s Letters and papers from prison and this little sentence really slapped me in the face.
…It is eerie to read the words of a man whom you know in the end dies and one whom suspects he will die.
Knowing what was to come made this a challenging read. It was interesting to learn more about Dietrich Bonhoeffer‘s family, beliefs and theological writings. Reading the horrors of the Third Reich never gets easier. It was enlightening to learn about the resistance and disheartening to realize that their plots failed so the regime did not fall sooner. Bonhoeffer‘s impact on Christian theology and a believer‘s place in the world is undeniable. 4⭐️s
“We will have to move through a very deep valley, I believe much deeper than we can sense now, before we are able to ascend the other side again. The main thing is that we let ourselves be led entirely and not resist and become impatient. Then it will all go right.” page 374
The plot to kill Hitler wasn't what I expected, but I still love it.
It about a pastor named Dietrich Bonhoffer, and what he went through from the day the war started to the day it ended. Every chapter it would tell you what happened in that year.
If you need some ideas for the writing assignment please read this book.
Noting this book down for #somethingaboutsocialjustice as alot of the people highlighted in this book championed social justice.

Finished this for #booked2020 #redwhiteorbluetypeoncover. Gordon Brown writes about courage through the lives of these 8 people.
I appreciated the essays about the people I knew the least about as it broadened my knowledge.
