I'm reading Afrodite from the impressive Isabel Allende, a Chilean writer.
That book is about afrodisiac ingredients and recipes, and almost of them are notes telling her experiences, plenty of sensuality, and erotism.

One of her more important books even becomes a movie as The house of the spirits and Of love and shadows.

Seems a memorable and gorgeous cookbook from hungarian writer...

Try some hungarian recipes, https://www.tasteofmemories.com/category/recipes
To make impressive pairing, learn a little of hungarian wines (my favourite one: tokaj), https://tastehungary.com/journal/guide-to-hungarian-wine-regions

I loved this uplifting story of a young woman from the Dominican Republic who finds herself through her love of poetry. It‘s YA, but this mature reader felt all the feels for X and her struggles. The themes of questioning religion(Catholicism) and mother/ daughter conflict spoke to me.Thank you Litsy for bringing this to my attention! Thank you #booked2023 for including the prompt #quietyabook.
I listened to the audio which was wonderful!

SamAnne I don‘t read much YA and I absolutely loved this spoken word novel! It gives me the feels that there is literature like this out in the universe for YA. 12mo

What can I say about this author? I love all her books. Another powerful story about family, religion, beliefs, cultural traditions, identity, personal growing, forgiveness, love, friendship, brother-sister relation, second opportunities in a concise way, in few pages. I really enjoyed also the audiobook because she is the narrator. My edition has a letter from the author and the book has some annotations also by the author.
❤️4.5⭐️

megnews I love her too. 13mo
Gissy #Foodandlit2023 (February-Dominican Republic) @Catsandbooks @Texreader Well I will say that where I go to do my nails, she is Dominican and her coffee ☕️ is out of this world. She is always offering me something that she cook. So I tasted something from this country to cover that part☺️

Catsandbooks That edition with notes is awesome!! And so fun at the nail place! 🇩🇴 13mo
Gissy @Catsandbooks Yes! She is amazing, I have tried to make the coffee the same way as she makes it but no way, never is the same🤷🏽‍♀️there is a Dominican secret in that coffee ☕️ 😋I tasted hot cereal made by her and it is soooo goood with chocolate. Arroz con pollo is a common plate in our cuisine but they use other ingredients and it is delicious too. Mmm. Are you from Dominican Republic? 13mo
Catsandbooks @Gissy that all sounds great!! I am not from DR. I'm from the US and unfortunately have not had a chance to travel outside the US either. One day 🤞🏼That's one reason I love and host #FoodandLit is because I get to travel through books and food! 13mo
Gissy @Catsandbooks Great idea! I ordered a book by an author from Uganda, the country you chose for January. It haven‘t arrive yet but I think this is a wonderful idea to explore the country at least through online and know new authors from other countries. 13mo

To close out Uganda for #foodandlit2023, we read A Good Trade and Beatrice‘s Goat. Both books center around the poverty and lack of education in Uganda, and both have white saviors. After reading these books, my daughter and I made paper beads while going on a Google Earth tour of Uganda. My oh my… sooo many churches.

i couldn‘t finish this novel because its a lot to read. i plan on finishing it at another time. nothing against the author, but i can‘t give the author the respect the novel deserves by not giving my full attention to it.
