Ruthiella I‘ve never read any thing from her. Recommendations? 2mo
Leftcoastzen @Ruthiella I‘ve only read the first 6 of the Gaslight Mysteries, the series begins with 2mo
Leftcoastzen @Ruthiella why I like them is the main character leaves a Wharton society type situation to be a midwife. Thompsons descriptions of New York in that era are vivid . 2mo
Deblovestoread Sad to hear this! I love the series and just recently finished the latest one. 2mo

This #gaslightmystery action is mostly set in East Harlem, then known as Italian Harlem (1899).It‘s inhabitants were Italian immigrants. The Harlem Settlement Hall was established by volunteers to offer immigrants classes on English, citizenship, etc.A volunteer goes missing, presumed kidnapped by Italian gangsters, the”Black Hand” for ransom. What transpires is an intricate tale of gang warfare, greed, betrayal,& justice when in the peoples‘ hands.

kspenmoll I love all the true history & details the author uses in her books. 4mo

The 2nd book in the Gaslight Mystery series (#SeriesLove2024). This time Sarah gets involved in the world of the “Charity Girls”, trying to help a client determine who murdered her sister. The mystery was good, but what is wonderful about these novels is the evolution of Sarah and Frank‘s relationship. I look forward to the next in the series.

The first in the Gaslight Mystery series (#SeriesLove2024) featuring midwife Sarah Bryant and police detective Frank Malloy. Set in the gaslight era, Thompson did a great job evoking the era, it was a great first in the series. I look forward to reading more.

A historical fiction series featuring midwife, Sarah Brandt and Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy. This is book number seven and in it the duo is on a mission to find out who is responsible for impregnating Sarah‘s developmentally disabled patient. I am sad I came to this series so late, but was thrilled to learn there are 26 books in the series with a new one slated for April 2024.

kspenmoll This is a fantastic series! 10mo

While former police detective,Frank Molloy,& midwife Sarah Brandt, are their honeymoon,a family friend,Mrs. O‘Neill, arrives at their door, begging for help. Her daughter has been arrested for the murder of her husband. What makes this a fun read in that the series‘minor characters, such as Mauve, their daughters nanny,Officer Donatelli who worked on the police force with Frank & the wealthy Elizabeth and Felix Decker, join forces to solve this crime

Well, I finished this before Audible locked it and really enjoyed it. As always, I really enjoyed Sarah and Frank and their interactions with both others and each other. The story was also pretty interesting and kept me guessing. #audiowalk I started The River We Remember as my new walking book.
