Librarybelle Oh no! 3mo
Ruthiella I‘ve never read any thing from her. Recommendations? 3mo
Leftcoastzen @Ruthiella I‘ve only read the first 6 of the Gaslight Mysteries, the series begins with 3mo
Leftcoastzen @Ruthiella why I like them is the main character leaves a Wharton society type situation to be a midwife. Thompsons descriptions of New York in that era are vivid . 3mo
Deblovestoread Sad to hear this! I love the series and just recently finished the latest one. 3mo

Yes I‘ve binged this. It was all I could do for the past week and it really gave me moments of respite. I love this series.

megnews I‘ve read a couple of these and need to get back to this series 3y
Deblovestoread I received the first in the series in my winter solstice swap. Your posts have moved it to the top of my TBR. 😊 3y

Avanders Ps my friend said tons of water and Gatorade (and rest of course) helped her get through… hope you‘re on the upswing! 3y
Chrissyreadit @megnews join me in the dark side of NYC 😘 3y
Chrissyreadit @Kdgordon88 yay!! I hope you love it too! 3y
Chrissyreadit @Avanders I will try Gatorade- thank you! I‘m drinking seltzer and diet ginger ale at moment. I‘m feeling better, but still exhausted and not able to leave my bed for more than 15 minutes or so. I‘m anxious to return to work but my body won‘t cooperate 🤣thank you for asking 😘❤️😘 3y
Avanders Glad you‘re starting to feel better .. it sounds like your experiences are really similar to my friend, who is *very* immunocompromised (and we were *stunned* she got it bc she‘s the most careful never-going-anywhere person I know!), so hopefully your fatigue begins to fade soon… that was the last thing that lingered for her too 🙏🏽🙏🏽♥️ 3y

Sometimes only a mystery will do.This is book 5 in the series. Sarah Brandt is a midwife in turn of century New York. Her prosperous family is a bit at odds with her choices .The details are very good , I enjoy the historical settings that come to life in Thompson‘s writing. And , of course, circumstances always seem to find her with knowledge of a crime.photo: Jacob Riis, Book: How The Other Half Lives

Buechersuechtling This indeed sounds interesting. 😃 4y
Leftcoastzen @Buechersuechtling I‘ve really enjoyed the series so far.I‘m fascinated with that time period & the immigrant experience.Sarah is a great character. 4y

The one on the right is having a well-deserved retirement after circulating 39 times! I'm always glad when replacements are available. #librarylife #collectiondevelopment

RanaElizabeth 39 times is a lot! I saw this article recently about how Stephen King books tend to have the highest circulation to replacement ratio of most books, that people are very careful with them. 8y
Suet624 @RanaElizabeth that's an interesting tidbit. 8y
helgagrace @RanaElizabeth Huh! Not the King paperbacks at my library, I'm afraid! 8y
