This book about the current generations is absolutely fascinating. Driven by data, it looks at the differences between the generations along with side by side comparisons of where they were at specific ages compared to one another. Anything that‘s at all speculative is clearly indicated as such. I loved it!

I'm not much of Non Fiction reader. I prefer Happy Ever Afters, Mysteries, and Kick Ass Women saving the day. But I saw interview with Dr. Jean M. Twenge and was intrigued.

While there were lots of charts and graphs, that I didn't study too closely, overall I found this a fascinating read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars out of 5.

Jean M Twenge, PhD reviews year-over-year data to better understand what makes each generation unique.

Culture ✨ Technology ✨ Impact

An interesting concept that felt bogged down by personal opinion and self fulfilling conclusions.

Yep, the cover probably reminds you of “The Breakfast Club.” I‘m enjoying this #GenX version of “The Big Chill.” #1980s

Our other irl bk this wk was this iconic generational story that I missed in the 90s. A curious tale of 3 mid-20s Americans living a lifestyle different to family norms and telling tales to each other of life + society. It made for a good discussion. A curious story that I found compelling but curiously forgot many of the tales quickly, although I remember the enjoyable characters. A classic in mould of on the road for a generation, glad I rd it.

merelybookish Great review! I have never read it either, although you've piqued my interest. 12mo
Ruthiella I read this in the‘90s when it was published. I remember loving it at 20 something, but have no memory now except for the term “McJob”. 12mo
batsy I missed it too! Need to add to the list. Love the cover and photo. 12mo

Enjoyed this one even more than I expected.
Martin shared some great personal memories, from growing up in council housing to eventually playing in front of six-figure crowds in Italy with Spandau Ballet and moving on to acting.
Loved reading his personal life lessons along with details about ‘80s culture.

Paulina moved on her own at 16 to Paris to model. She met her older husband, Ric Ocasek (of The Cars), a few years later and allowed him to make most of the decisions for their family. This led to disastrous financial consequences when he suddenly died while they were divorcing. In this memoir, she examines their marriage and reflects on the difficulties of aging out of modeling. She writes about her childhood torn between Czechoslovakia & Sweden.
