Really enjoyed it, mainly because it felt like such a reflection of current times.

Didn't want it to end. I look forward to the movie that certainly will be in the works. (And proud to say I bought it at Provincetown's East End Books.) #getindie

Looking forward to digging into this one. Just picked it up from Malaprop's in Asheville.

jillrhudy He‘s coming to our library and I‘ll get an opportunity to meet him. 2y
SteveWJones @jillrhudy Excellent! He's also speaking at Malaprop's June 14. But I don't think I'll be able to make it to Asheville that weekend. 😕 2y

Favorite lines.

johnnie_cakes I can't wait to read this! 2y
SteveWJones @johnnie_cakes I started reading it seven weeks ago after coming across it at @strandbookstore. Had no idea I was picking up a future Pulitzer winner. It‘s good, but I‘ve struggled lately to find time to dedicate toward it. 2y

All right, I'm finally making my longtime secret public. If you're ever in Scottsboro, Ala., you're going to strike gold with used books. For years I've been buying at Unclaimed Baggage. Each of these was $1.99 today.

Great reading & signing tonight by Richard Russo at the Margaret Mitchell House. I enjoyed hearing his perspective on the film adaptions of his work, how he starts his novels, etc.

On my first visit to D.C.'s renowned independent bookstore, I was exploring Orwell, travel memoirs I'd never seen, philosophy books -- yet I walked out with Dave's book.
Great timing too, on the heels of me reading "Hillbilly Elegy." Oddly enough, the two give a great account of so much of my own experience.

Though I'm trying to finish two other books, I'm not going to be able to resist starting this one after picking up my order from Malaprop's this afternoon.

BarbaraTheBibliophage Love Malaprop's and this book! 3y
SteveWJones @BarbaraTheBibliophage I'm a Malaprop's fanatic, no doubt. Picking up two new books there tomorrow. lol 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Enjoy. We used to travel to Asheville pretty regularly, but our kids moved back North. I miss it! 3y

This book is going to be a tough read. I hope men like Spencer Cox aren't completely forgotten.

Just discovered the @bookriot February challenge. Today's entry: favorite villain. Serena immediately came to mind. (And I still love this original cover.)

mcctrish Ooh good one!!! 3y
SteveWJones @mcctrish It should've been a massive bestseller. I hate that the movie was such a disaster. I didn't even see it after I read how bad the reviews were. 3y
mcctrish I bought this book at a Smokey Mountains NP gift shop and LOVED it. Everybody I have pushed it on has felt the same way. I never saw the movie either. I had hoped the movie would get people reading it at least 3y

What a trip down memory lane. While growing up in rural Alabama, I was obsessed with UK youth culture. (Baffling, I know.) And The Face, which I purchased every couple of months from Waldenbooks in Atlanta's Perimeter Mall, was my personal guide.

I liked it but didn't love it. I think my expectations were too high because of the accolades.

When I was about 150 pages from the end, I said, "I'm so eager to find out what happens next, but I'm beginning to dread telling these characters goodbye." To me, that's such a satisfying feeling while reading a book.

SteveWJones @BarbaraTheBibliophage Let me know what you think when you finish up the two of them. Always glad to hear other perspectives, whether positive or negative. 3y
