This book was so amazing I read it twice, as in finished it and literally went right back to the beginning to start again. The beauty and hope and healing and humanity in this book were like a balm to my spirit. I cannot recommend this series enough!

I absolutely devoured this book, all in one evening, because it completely enraptured me. It exceeded my expectations on so many levels! It's beautiful and comforting while also being deeply thoughtful and playing a delightfully subversive game with its characters. I cannot recommend it enough!

This will be my final physical book of 2022. I‘m very much hoping to get it finished for #booked2022 #hopepunk by tonight! So far I‘m absolutely in love with it and I think it will make my top books of the year list!

Although published in 1979, Butler envisions a future for the Earth that‘s not just possible but probable. And amid the futuristic story, she writes about top-of-mind topics in our century. Butler teaches her readers through Lilith‘s experiences. You‘ll examine what it means to be human and how another race of beings might see us. Can‘t wait for part 2!

Cinfhen Nice!!! 1y
Reggie What kills me is when they put all the humans together again they‘re all wretched and think yeah let‘s make guns again. Lol, I loved this trilogy. 1y

BarbaraTheBibliophage @Reggie 💯 Clearly, Octavia had no rose-colored glasses when observing human behavior. I‘m really trying to stretch out her books, in between wanting to devour everything quick AF. 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen This would be a great choice for #partofatrilogy for #booked2023. I may use book 2 for just that! 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Aimeesue Yaaas!! She is amazing! 1y
BookBelle84 I saw these covers at the bookstore the other day and absolutely loved them 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @BookBelle84 I agree! I read an ebook with an older cover design. This one has so much more punch! 1y

Read this for #hopepunk for #booked2022 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was heartfelt and adorable and all the characters popped off the page for me. Teared up a few times as well.
This marks the completion of #booked2022 for me. Onto next year's challenge!

Thank you #booked2022 for introducing me to the term #hopepunk ! Hope Punk was coined in 2017. The characters fight for positive versions of future worlds. This book is listed as being a part of that sci- fi genre. Set in post climate disaster Alberta, a young woman infected with a mysterious parasite must decide whether to remain with her mother in the community that has nurtured her, or to take a chance on a different future with many unknowns.

Cinfhen Hurray!!! You‘re on a roll!! 1y
DivineDiana @Cinfhen Only one more to finish it up! 🙂 1y

A different kind of book. Open-ending Novella, so might not be for everyone.

I see why this book has got so many good reviews. John Green‘s essays are funny and serious and I love the idea of reviewing the Anthropocene. BUT there were quite a few essays which didn‘t work for me. Some of the very American subjects I could not associate with. So, a light pick and my #HopePunk choice for #Booked22. Thank you for sending me this one Cindy 😘

Cinfhen I can see how this would not 💯 be relatable to you!! Glad you enjoyed parts of it 🧡 1y
BarbaraBB @Cinfhen I certainly did! And I loved his ratings! 1y
