pickI unknowingly read this series out of sequence. I‘m actually glad I did. I liked the second book but, having really enjoyed this one, I might have been disappointed. “The Shadow Intelligence” was a masterfully plotted espionage thriller. The twists were unexpected and pacing increased as the story moved the reader along toward the chaotic, crescendo ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

pickIt was really interesting read about part of the world no one is really talking about. I've made some notes and I'm keen to learn more.
This is my chance to not only learn about the devastating results of disregard for caring for the earth, but also an opportunity to learn a bit about the geography of the “Stans” (those countries in the former Soviet Union whose names end in “stan”.) So far the scenario set by author Jeff Fearnside of the once thriving fishing community on the Aral Sea bordering both #Kazakhstan and #Uzbekistan is pretty bleak.
pickErika Fatland traveled through the Central Asian former Soviet Stans and relates here her travels, some history, and current events in the area. I thought this was fascinating. She did a good job of varying the information so it didn‘t get bogged down. This was a great book to wrap up #ReadingAsia2021. #Tajikistan
