Best reading buddy ever.

Reading this not-really ARC. The publisher is new to NetGalley.de and hence offered a few books that were published a few years ago.

julesG @Sarah83 On NetGalley? I'm might need to read the first one first. 6y
julesG @Sarah83 Ha. Just checked. This seems to be the first book. Or rather the first three. It's got Die Schlüsselmacherin, Die mechanischen Kinder and Die Bibliothek des Apothekers. 6y
Sarah83 Die Schlüsselmacherin is the first one. I ordered it on Amazon. 6y
julesG @Sarah83 Then run on over to NetGalley.de and get the first three in one book. Should you wish to continue the series. 6y
Sarah83 I already ordered the second one. 😣 But maybe I will. How do you like it? 6y
julesG @Sarah83 Remember what I said about German on Monday? It might be my mother tongue but it's not the language of my heart. I find it dry, the writing, not the content. I think that the kids might like it a lot. I'm going to test it out on them on Sunday. 6y
Sarah83 Yes I remember, even if I thought, you were just talking about your own writing and not generally. 😉 I liked the story quite a lot. 😊 6y
julesG @Sarah83 you're right, I was mainly talking about my own writing, but it goes for reading in German, too. 6y
Sarah83 So sad, but everyone has her favours. 😉 6y
julesG @Sarah83 I'm glad I've realised that it is me and not most of the books. 😉 6y
Sarah83 So many books can't be wrong 😊 6y

Seriously wondering whether a) I'm very picky, b) in a reading slump, or c) this book's prologue is bland. Maybe d) my expectations are too high.

I got this #ARC in #German a few days ago via #NetGalley. It sounded promising and now, barely 5 pages in, I am sure that the 'boring tone' of the book won't entertain me for long. Granted, I'm not the target audience. Will read it to my kids and ask for their opinion - they might think differently.

julesG Oh no! I've read the book's blurb here on Litsy and it has a huge mistake in a phrasal verb. 😱😨 Ouch! 6y
BethM The cover is pretty. 6y

Anansi Boys: A Novel | Neil Gaiman
post image

Amazon.de just sent me info on "Neil Gaiman's latest book". Before opening the email I was wondering whether I had missed anything about Gaiman publishing something new and hence was disappointed upon finding out that it's "just" Anansi Boys in German.

#LitsyAufDeutsch #German

Amazon.de-people, don't do that. Don't get my hopes up and crush them with a translation of a book that's been on the market for years.

Moray_Reads I feel like that when I get emails from Audible about things like "the new Charles Dickens book". Hmm, unlikely ? 6y
julesG @Moray_Reads 😂😂😂 Who knows?! Maybe Dickens and Poe get to co-author one of these days. 6y

Die kleine Hummel Bommel und die Zeit | Britta Sabbag, Maite Kelly

This cute little bumblebee is waiting for his grandmother. Her train is due to arrive but it's taking ages. So, he goes/flies around the train station asking the other people/insects about time, who, time crawls at a snail's pace one moment and flies the next.

Reviews call this ‘a book like a cosy blanket‘. Alrighty, I‘m in, even if it should turn out to be a bit fluff. ;) It‘s a German publication that isn‘t out in English yet but maybe @Sarah83 @julesG @Maike are interested?

julesG So it's by a German author? 6y
scripturient @julesG Yes. The story takes place in Hamburg and on Spiekeroog. 6y

julesG I suppose I saw this on NetGalley.de. It looks familiar. 6y
Maike Sounds like a good present for my mother 😊 6y
Sarah83 I already ordered an extract for my kindle last week. 😍 6y

What a lovely little book about reading and books and what they mean to us.

One sentence accompanies a picture.

Thank you @Sarah83, probably the quickest read in your box.

PS: Shadow has claimed the box. #catsoflitsy

tournevis This book does not exist in French, nor English. Might have to get it in German or Spanish. *Pouts* 6y
julesG @tournevis It's worth it. I'm sure you could translate the short sentences. 6y
tournevis @julesG I think so as well, but then my family could not enjoy it. They are not linguistically talented, if you get my drift. 6y
yourfavouritemixtape Oh I love Bucholz! And this looks amazing! 6y

Ruby Red | Kerstin Gier

My friend brought this book to our divorce party coffee date.

It matches my bracelet buttons.

Has anyone read this? There are mixed reviews.

#LitsyAufDeutsch #German #LitsyInGerman

Sarah83 Never read any Kerstin Gier books until now 6y
julesG @Sarah83 Me neither. But since I didn't like the Scandinavian crime novel she had recommended, I thought I should give this a try. 6y
Sarah83 Oh. She is the one? 😉 6y
julesG @Sarah83 Yep. The one. 6y
catsuit_mango I read and liked the first one. I just need to get my hands on the rest of the series in German epubs ;) it's a nice ya fantasy Serie :) 6y
