A heartwarming story about a mother and daughter in wartime England and the power of the books that bring them together. Emma Taylor needs to find a job to support herself and her daughter. She is a single mom and there is a war going on and Germany is bombing England. She signs up to send her daughter, Olivia, to the countryside to escape the bombs.

EadieB Books are mysteriously mis-shelved and disappearing, and her work forces her to confront the memories of her late father and the bookstore they once owned together before a terrible accident. I loved this story. There are many books mentioned throughout the book. Books that people are reading in order to not think about the bombs being shelled all over England. 5h
EadieB If you like stories about books and bookshops you will love this book. As the Blitz intensifies in Nottingham and Emma fights to reunite with her daughter, she must learn to depend on her community and the power of literature more than ever to find hope in the darkest of times. Highly recommended! 5h

The setting of the book - WWII 1939 bombing of London. Grace Bennett is working at The Primrose Hill Bookstore. It is a sanctuary of reading in the neighborhood during the unrest of war. It is a story of love, friendship & survival. The book is well-written & the characters are memorable. The plot is interesting & makes you want to keep reading until the very end. I hope she writes more historical novels such as this one as I enjoyed it very much.
