Wonderful as always, this was my companion on the 13 hours or so I spent at Jomo Kenyatta airport trying to get home (and on the plane when we still thought we were leaving on time, haha.) The unravelling mystery from the past felt a bit like it had been done before but it was still good. I was super anxious about having packed my other book in my suitcase for some stupid reason.

kspenmoll So glad you had Maisie either you through that time at the airport. So sorry you were stuck there. 6d
Smarkies I hate being caught without a book as well. Glad you had Maisie to get you through. 6d
MommyWantsToReadHerBook @Smarkies and @kspenmoll thank you 💜💜💜💜 6d

10th book finished for #Read2025 #JumpStart2025 @DieAReader @LizPixie

As always the Maisie Dobbs series is excellent, & this one kept up the same high standard. This one is set at the outbreak of WWII. As always a lot of intrigue, & felt it covered the evacuation theme well. The murder mystery involves people who came to England from Belgium in WWI.

2nd book read for #Read12Booksof2024 based on the 50 books I added to my TBR from #12Booksof2024

Andrew65 Thanks to @kspenmoll for nominating this book, and reminding me I needed to get back to this series. #SeriesLove2025. @TheSpineView (edited) 1mo
TheSpineView 10 books already! Way to go! 1mo
Lizpixie Well done! I‘m reading consistently but swapping between books & not finishing them yet. So on page count I‘m doing well, but not so much with books finished.🤷🏻‍♀️ 1mo

Andrew65 @TheSpineView A good start but trickier this week with health issues on my mind. 1mo

Having coffee while getting my car washed. This weekend has involved so many errands! The book is super stressful but good.

I'm desperately in need of a year that is better than this past one. At times I struggled with this book because reading about Maisie's pain reminded me of my own (very different) pain. But in the end the intricate (convoluted?) storyline drew me in and distracted me. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Sorry I‘m already breaking the rules, Andrew, but I‘d like to include those books that ranked a 4.5 and were rounded up too. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ Always a troublemaker…🙃

The tagged book was my only 5⭐️ for January ‘24.

robinb @julieclair so glad I discovered this series and hope to read more of it in 2025! I hated to hear it‘s coming to an end. 😕 2mo
Andrew65 😂😂😂😂 I‘ll let you off Robin. We clearly have similar reading tastes. 2mo
Andrew65 @robinb How can they bring the excellent Maisie Dobbs series to an end. 😢 2mo
robinb @Andrew65 Yes, I think our personal libraries would be very similar! The #60sBaby Club has superb taste in all things. 😉😂👍🏻 (edited) 2mo
robinb @Andrew65 I know…I hate to see those excellent and iconic series come to an end. It‘s like an era has passed…😕 2mo
Andrew65 @robinb So sad when a favourite series ends, almost like a bereavement. Will have to check out that club. 2mo
julieclair @robinb @Andrew65 I didn‘t know the series was coming to an end. That‘s so disappointing. 😕 2mo
robinb @julieclair It‘s a bit heartbreaking to see it happen when an excellent series has gone on so long. Like losing a family member in the book realm. 😩 2mo
julieclair @robinb That‘s a perfect way to describe it. 😢 2mo

I loved this one as I do all the others. It's strange how India is a theme in my life right now. I look forward to the next one!

This was an easy read but was slow in parts and didn‘t have the pay off that I hoped for.
